This time last year a decision was made to dig up the pitch and lay a new one it seemed at the time a bold move but a proactive one. Today its becoming apparent the pitch is a write off or is it? no communication from the club leads to speculation. Ive only seen the pics you have seen it close up so is it worse than last year? is it worse than it looks or better than it seems? will it be played on again? [Post edited 22 Jan 2018 20:01]

If you think the game might be at risk due to underfoot conditions outside the ground (which I don't btw) - you genuinely think the pitch itself will be fine, still loaded with moisture?
I've no idea either way, just asking the question in case anyone with greater knowledge of how quickly frost can get into an exposed playing surface has an inkling
Supposing the game was to go into extra time, for instance?

We need some confirmation that we’ve still got the hired covers because if we have then we already know warm air can be blown under them. This can be done during the day tomorrow, at least getting any existing frost out of the pitch before kick off. |  |

Looking at the video - that area in front of the dugouts - that pitch can't be fit for play. There are deep footmarks caused by people just walking on the pitch. What will happen when people start sprinting on it ? Maybe they're hoping the frost will hold it together.

Shun, it's not bizarre. There is such a neat line between green and shite because of the main stand shadow. This means the green half has had a lot more sun and much less frost therefore some drainage is still possible through the roots etc.
