Holloway stay or go on 16:11 - May 7 by MedwayR

At the time we appointed Holloway I wanted Darrell Clarke from Bristol Rovers who is still a manager that I like, but I'm not convinced that now would be the right time to get him, if we'd appointed him earlier he'd have had half a season to assess the squad before this summer.

For all those wanting Holloway to go I'm yet to hear a decent replacement mentioned, it's easy to sack a manager but not so easy to appoint one.

I think Holloway needs to settle on a plan a and a plan b, get the players drilled in them and the strongest 11 for each and stop experimenting all the time.

Decent and realistic replacement. Derek McInnes.

Zola?

You've got a further opportunity to explain that post before I launch into one.

I must admit..clutching at straws to say the least - but he has Championship experience and took Watford to Wembley? Brum are a club with deep-rooted problems so maybe unfair to pin it all on him??

Problem is it makes sense to move on from Olie now (agree..NOT in Oct/Nov) but who else is there right now ? Pardew a good shout.

Whilst your correct about some deep routed problems that doesn't explain the position they were in when they inexplicably sacked Rowett when they were 7th.

Zola - No thanks.

Holloway to stay for me.

This club with deep rooted problems was sitting just outside the playoffs when he took over. When he left, they were looking at league 1. It was only 2 wins from last 2 games that saved them. He is an awful manager.

I love olly but this team should be no where near the relegation places we got lucky this year
As Wigan Rotherham and Blackburn are a shambles next year will be tougher which is why we need to act now
Gary monk would do or why not Chris wilder
Today was a shambles it had Chris Ramsey against city all over it
i fear for us next year I really do

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

Looks like that Neil Warnock fella (who I have seen mentioned on this forum once or twice) managed to pick up 54 points in 35 games in charge of Cardiff @1.54 points per game. Just saying...

What a shame. What a bloody shame.
Here we go again.

What stupid people voted he must go? He's been back for half a season. He hasn't had time to do anything. We have been crap for ages for exactly the reason that we keep changing managers. Every time we have the same manager for a couple of seasons in a row we either get promoted or some idiot starts to beat the drum that if only we had a different manager all our problems would be solved. But the exact opposite is true. Until we have some stability in the club, our problems will always be the same: No system, players not gelled, and a bunch of dead-wood players from the old manager weighing down the pay-bill meaning we cannot bring in or bring along the players that we need for the benefit of the club long-term.

Whilst I agree you have to look at the facts and they are awful by anyones standards. 7 of the last 8 matches lost. 6 consecutive deceats twice. A worse position then when he took over. Picking Perch week in week out. Is he not seeing what everyone ele is seeing?

Holloway was a gnatts hair from being a complete disaster.

Monk. Go and get him and don't ponce about.

Failing that, Clint, with Derry as his assistant

Clint Hill is just about to play in Europe for what I presume is the first time in his career.

Plus he's not mental.

I can see where your coming from Dylan but the fact is he's not been good enough. The results have been terrible and to make matters worse we've actually seen that this team can do better. We were the form team in Feb / March.
The enthusiasm and drive that Holloway was supposed to bring to the table is simply not working.
As much as i love Ollie it was a step backwards to appoint him. I thought so at the time but i then got caught up with all the hype and bluster so changed my tune and thought sod it , bring it on. regardless of the results Ollie will make it fun again.

The harsh reality is losing every week is a kick in the nuts.

I just dont see him getting through next season and i cant bear the thought of him getting slaughtered by the fans which will inevitably happen.

Anyone else would have been torched by now. Must go. Stupid appointment that should have never taken place.

Just seen his record lost twice as many as he won. I don't think QPR should risk another nothing season., which will come about if we sack another manager in Oct/Nov.
He must go imo, others have gone with better records

Another Derek that's done a good job is Derek Adams at Plymouth

It's a shame. He obviously wants to do well.

But I think back to that QPR video in the dressing room away at Blackburn - Ollie giving a team talk involving a Blackburn player who isn't even playing, half the team chatting amongst themselves and the cherry on the top - Lee Cook admiring his body in the mirror like a Greek God.

Could be Calvin Zola or Emile Zola too. One's been dead for 100 years, but probably a better bet than Gianfranco.

Emile had a good philosophy.

Fair points made. I see Ollie is talking about ins and outs in the pc. Just brought in a decent (by all accounts) scouting team. Has said he now knows some aren't good enough.
Could he maybe turn it around? The recruitment is vital, we have been fed so much bull about players signed in the past, we need to buy at a decent level to convince fans, I'm not talking about spending millions either

Holloway stay or go on 19:16 - May 7 with 1896 viewsRangersDave

Hmmmmmmm I normally, on past 3 managers, call for their head, but you know, I've been with Ollie all season, and I'll stick with him till Christmas.

However, pre season is everything. I don't expect a Newport debacle a week before kick off, or soft soaping the players b.s., he proved when we got a bit of form together that he knows what he wants, but then buggered around with the team, told them we had done the job etc and look at us plummet.

Give home till Christmas is my vote.

North said a while back.....(paraphrasing here) that we must get into the 'employ a manager for longer than a year' mind set.

To not give him a chance now is folly, but the 3 previous donkeys I'd not give 5 minutes to with my beloved rrrrrsss

There's no point in keeping Holloway just to get rid of him in September.

Much better to get in a new manager now so we can get rid of the new manager in September.

I'd keep him myself for the reasons Dylan lists, though I am worried.

My hope is the latter part of the season was about experimentation for him, seeing what does and does not work, who will be in next season and who won't.

I can more than live with midtable next year with some hope of the playoffs, if we continue to blood players and try to play some decent stuff on the floor, have some form of recognisable tactics.

We had a point where we got to being great on the counter - maybe other teams worked us out, maybe we signed Matt Smith and can not play that way with him in the team.

All that said general experimentation is over, next season we need a manager who can get the players we will have to perform at their best (we are unlikely to have a team full of top class title winning players). I'd give him his chance, but then again I've not had to sit through a lot of those performances this season so I understand why people would like him to go.

Poll: Will we stay up?

The last time Holloway was in charge of the club, he oversaw a roller coaster ride of a time. He was younger then, steadied an uneven ship, got the team promoted and went on to have relative success at other clubs. But as time has gone on it seems his maverick, often unconventional approach to coaching has worn thin. Just look at his record at Palace and Millwall. He looks a spent force. I like the guy still, but I'm not a fan of second comings at clubs. Things are never the same as the first time round if they were any good then. No, sadly I wasn't keen on his re appointment in the first place, so I have to say thanks Mr Holloway, but no thanks. Monk or Jacket could be a good replacement should he do the right thing and go.

There aint half been some clever bastards.
