What’s the craic? Not getting a look-in apart from a two-minute cameo at Cardiff. |
| Forum Thread | Top 3 things about Saints being shit at 13:02 1 Oct 2024
1. We don't have to worry about our manager being poached by Man. United 2. No worries about having to save up for a European trip next season 3. No pointless debates about extending the ground |

Martin's hint that he should have kept more faith in players who played for us last season is a bit of a steer for Saturday's line-up. As we all know who's 3-match ban will now be up after last night...... |

Good to see so many teams coming unstuck with this yesterday. You would think people would cotton on that they don’t all have to copy Guardiola. About time this fad came to an end. Not least at Saints. |

Sigh. This is depressing.

Can't say there are many possibilities to excite if you want to go to an away game, based on who is left in the comp. Guess we probably might as well get a home draw. |
| Forum Thread | Boscombe at 08:45 24 Sep 2024
Boscombe play a very similar way to Brentford. They have plenty of pace up front and in attacking midfield positions, and are good at both the high press and pushing up the pitch at pace. The tippy tappy stuff at the back would end up with a similar result for us to the Brentford game. Not a game for us to be playing half-paced. I'm sure our clued-up management will be on to this...... |
| Forum Thread | The only way Saints will win today at 10:06 21 Sep 2024
Is if we just have 40% possession. Let Ipswich faff about with the ball and get nowhere. And we be clinical with the ball when we have it. Of course, that isn’t our way 🙄 I eagerly look forward to seeing the stats show that we had 80% possession; and had just 2 or 3 shots on target. |

He strikes me as the sort of player who may score 2 or 3 belters in a season. But more likely to blast shots out of the ground and into the fanzones at the Northam and Chapel Ends. Rough with the smooth. Bit of pace about him though. Wonder if we might be better off with him playing up top more centrally. |

Still a lot of causes for concern last night, not least the lack of shots on goal relative to the possession we had. I'm not sure we are ever going to see an improvement on that under this manager while we are in this League. It did however strike me that the players are all trying their hardest for Russell Martin. We went a goal behind, and could have caved in, as we have done in the last two League games. Granted we were playing a weaker opponent last night; but there did at least seem to me to be quite a lot of fight and togetherness in the team. We will need a lot more of that in the coming weeks. |
| Forum Thread | Fanzones at 19:14 15 Sep 2024
I am going to boycott these fanzones for as long as possible. Walked past the Northam Fanzone yesterday after seeing the Saints Brass tribute to Elijah, and it irritated me a lot that Saints fans were a lot noisier in there than they are in the ground. Please support the pubs in Southampton. It is far more important that they continue to thrive. Sing in the ground rather than in these gulags. |

Would anybody have him in the starting line-up? He has had two little cameos against Cardiff reserves and Brentford when the game was up. In fairness, he played well in both. I didn't like us signing him any more than a lot of people on here did. But he might come in useful. I wouldn't start with him, but I would have him higher up in the equation than one or two others who have had a few chances to impress and not taken them. |
| Forum Thread | Richard Keys views on Russell Martin at 10:28 4 Sep 2024
Richard Keys is a coont of the highest order. However, I did find part of his latest blog quite interesting. Particularly the part where he compares Martin with Vincent Kompany. I suppose none of us thought Martin was going to be around with us for that long, but I guess there is a grain of truth in Keys alluding to potential "auditioning"..... ".....A quick mention for Russell Martin, who reckons his suicidal approach to the game would be ‘questioned less I was foreign’. No it wouldn’t Russell. Wise up man before it’s too late. Saints remind me of Burnley last season - who were, of course, managed by a foreigner. He too insisted he wanted to play the ‘right way’. He too got spanked most weekends and his team were all but down by Christmas. I said then Vincent Kompany’s approach was a season long interview for a better job. Burnley fans reared up in his defence. But was I right wasnt I? His mate Guardiola played him into Munich - and Burnley went down. He got what he wanted and he didn’t care a jot about Burnley. I’m not saying Martin is auditioning, but he’s heading for the exit door if Saints don’t change....." https://richardajkeys.com/blog/ |
