8 points off relegation 22:12 - Jun 27 with 19027 views | Gloucs_R | I do hope we're not going to wait until the last game of the season to ensure safety? Based on last two games, against bottom 5 teams....I am a little concerned. Pretty unlikely we'll go down but I can see us in the bottom 6....

8 points off relegation on 23:30 - Jun 30 with 3187 views | VancouverHoop | Thing is, as much as it's true that players on QPR team are pros and should be able motivate themselves. It's true for all the other teams too. What's more if there's nothing much to play for, not even fans, those with something to gain or lose are always likely to have an edge. That's been the case for our last three matches, and likely to be so for most of the upcoming ones unfortunately.

I'd at least wait till the clubs in the relegation zone need to pick up less than a point per game on us

Bear in mind that if Wigan do beat us, they still have a 12 point deduction to come. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

So, that would put them bottom on 38 and Barnsley in 22nd on 41, so effectively a nine point gap to us, as long as the 12 points doesn't change for any reason.

Barnsley finish with Leeds, Forest and Brentford so that should do for them. Luton might make a run, but if they do it'll be at the expense of Hull. Relax.

Here's the thing though, it's more than a point a game they need to make up. So if it goes "Thunderbirds" and we don't pick up any more points, we will still be safe.

Yeah put another way, FIVE of the following need to happen AND we need to pick up zero more points (which would be our worst 9 game run in our entire history) Stoke get a win and a draw from 5 games Charlton get a win and a draw from 5 games Huddersfield get a win and two draws from 5 games Hull get two wins out of 6 games Boro get two wins and a draw out of 6 games Barnsley get 3 wins and a draw from 5 games Luton get 3 wins and two draws (or 4 wins) from 5 games Wigan get 4 wins from 5 Bear in mind all of those teams are averaging less than a win every 3 games and a bunch of the games are against each other so they can't all pick up points every week. We are safe. But it does not excuse sub standard performances and hopefully the players will go out of their way to atone for the garbage first couple of games back (Fulham was a bad result but I thought a much better performance)

Ahhhhh...... it takes me back to our beloved Clive stating that series of results of miraculous proportions would be needed for us to come even close to relegation Well they all happened..... bar one and that kept us up that season Granted, factually, we stayed up I think we need a win today but just can’t see it. The mentality within our club is a disgrace, myself included, losses and long runs of them are just the norm. Lockdown has been an eye opener for me. Doesn’t help ST renewals does it?

A draw would be a good result just to maintain both the gap and our collective sanity. Would be very QPR to be proven wrong and turn up all of a sudden but I have a vivid image of a meek 2-0 defeat, a knackered and isolated Hugill and Amos doing his inflatable dartboard routine.

Renewals.... Awful finish to the season Finish just above the relegation zone Sell 3 key players...Eze, BOS and Manning Not convinced we're going to splash the cash for replacements... Already looking tough for next season.

It would be interesting to see how much this sort of thing affects ST sales. My impression is that around 80-90% of ST holders are the faithful supporters who will renew whatever. Face it, these are tough times, made even more tougher by the fact that value has been wiped from Eze, BOS and Manning on top of C-19. However, we are not alone and the fact that we may well be in the market for free transfers may work for us as long as we get 5ge scouting right...

This is all hypothetical as we don't have a clue whether crowds will be allowed. When?if things do revert to 'normal': Will people have got out of the habit of going or will they be so desperate to see a game that they will flood back? A bit of both, I would think but on the whole renewals will be down as some older fans (of which we have many) may exercise caution.

"Granted, factually, we stayed up" Is there another level of staying up that I've missed? I do love you, LB. You've made me chuckle since 1988. But my God you do need to chill!

He does have a point on that one though Brian. Ollie was a mightily relieved man after that victory over Forest in the penultimate game, which we followed with a dreadful 4-0 loss at Norwich. We ended that season on 55 points, I think and the 52 that we had been stuck on may not have been enough.
8 points off relegation on 11:06 - Jul 5 with 1406 views | RangersDave | Due to the shenanigans of the owners and the EFL, i can see an appeal or threat of court action delaying Wigans points (or deferring them totally) for this season, so i wouldnt guarantee that they wont ,after yesterdays blip' come back strong again and give more than 50 points a good rodgering.

No, but what are people expecting exactly? Why do we have a divine right to be near the playoffs every year? Apart from 10/11 and 13/14 (which everyone hated apart from Wembley btw) every year since 2004 has been a pretty similar finish: 11th, 21st, 18th, 14th, 11th, 13th, 12th, 18th, 16th, 19th. All in all pretty meh, which imo is the reality of being a Championship club getting crowds of 13k-ish. We'd all love it if it was constant play-off challenges, but it's not, oh well. Hoos and Ferdinand are doing really well with lowering the wages and steadying the financial ship, enabling young players to come through. That's life as a small Championship club I'm afraid. People crave more, but everyone fcking hates the PL and VAR and you know you'd hate it if we were involved, desperately trying to finish 17th every year. This restart has been poor and I dislike the flat finishes every year, but I'm giving them a pass this year purely because we all know if the pandemic hadn't stopped things we'd built up a great head of steam and were playing really well.
