| Forum Thread | Are we a "second half" team? at 01:43 22 Dec 2024
I haven't done the math but sense that we we've scored far more goals in the second half of matches than first. (OK I could be wrong, but If I am I'll wear my blue and white bobble hat inside out next match.) If true though then it's gotta be mainly down to 'in-game' management by our coaching staff. Not just when and who the subs are, but tactical adjustments too. |

Nardi aside, he's surely our most consistent pre-season signing. Game in and game out, whoever the opponent, whatever the weather, or the angst surrounding our club he delivers, usually with a smile on his face. Sure, he's "what it says on the packet" type of winger. Take it to the goal line, trick your way past two or three defenders (that's the hard bit) and cross into the box where, ideally, a couple of strikers will be licking their lips. Unfortunately he can't do too much about the last bit at the moment. Maybe when Frey gets back his build up will show more results. |
| Forum Thread | The Leeds legacy at 01:21 28 Oct 2024
QPR 4 vs Leeds 0 This match was unquestionably both the high point of last season, and Cifuentes coaching reign so-far. I thought it'd be worth taking a look at those let go from that squad, and how much has changed since. Turns out not so much really. (Starters let go) Begovic, Willock, Dykes, Would anyone argue for the above at the moment? Dykes over Celar perhaps, but even then it's still two bald men fighting over a comb. (subs) Hayden, Armstrong, Adomah, Cannon, Larkeche.* Hayden and Larkeche would be potential bench assets no question. The others... not so much. (medium/long-term injuries) Chair, Colback. Significant losses. Chair needs to stop being greedy with the ball and play his way into form. And Colback to stop taking stupid cards, but we desperately need both on their game. So bring back Hayden and Larkeche, tune up Chair and Colback and we're unstoppable. Easy Peasy! Oh, and... umm...find a proper striker. Please! [Post edited 28 Oct 1:22]

Got a fair amount of stick early in the match thread, but nevertheless scored one goal and was instrumental in the winner. It's early doors of course, but having watched the replays he looks like he might be one of those rare players you forget is on the pitch for an hour or so, then pops up in acres of space at exactly the right time. There wasn't a Luton player visible for his goal (How does that happen? He's 6'3"!) For the second (arguably the best collective QPR goal since the days of Taraabt and Routledge IMHO) he had two defenders on him but instead of trying to beat them, he calmly laid the ball wide to the onrushing Paal with his back to goal,. He didn't do a lot, but what he did do was ice-water cool and very effective. I know this is well OTT but, potentially, he reminds me a bit of Spurs' John White, "The Ghost" from their early 60s team. The ability to "vanish" then "reappear" several minutes later during a match shouldn't be underestimated. |

What is our average home attendance this season, compared to previous years since our return to the Championship? |
| Forum Thread | The Revenge of the original Jude? at 19:40 27 Dec 2023
Blaming individual players for our results seems beside the point. We have been on alternating winning and losing runs — some short, some long — for the past four years irrespective of who's on the pitch, or waving their arms in front of the coachs' bench. Perhaps I'm wrong but there appears to be something more deep-seated going on within the club, or at least in the dressing room. Have Field, Dunne and now Paal really deteriorated so much in the past couple of seasons? And, in a month or two will we be whinging about Dixon-Bonner, Larkeche and Cannon too? Same with the manager aside from Ainsworth, who most people had doubts about, pretty much all our recent head coaches started out well (OK, one game in Critchley's case.) then went on equivalent losing run. There's a pattern here, but I'm not sure exactly what it is, except that we win a string of matches, and look pretty good doing it, then play as if we've never seen a football before and lose an equivalent number, or more. I dunno, perhaps it's the ghost of a certain black cat hexing us? |
| Forum Thread | Our International call-ups? at 17:15 4 Sep 2023
Somewhere it was mentioned there are ten. I've got: Dykes (Scotland) Armstrong (Ireland) Smyth (N. Ireland) Kakay (Sierra Leone) Chair (Morocco) After that I'm struggling. Is Paal in the Dutch squad and Is Begovich still in Bosnia's? Who else...? |

As a matter of interest just how many ex-players has the club employed in a managerial or off-field capacity since, say 2000? Off the top of my head I've got: Gerry Francis John Gregory Gary Waddock Iain Dowie Ray Wilkins Ian Holloway (twice) Gareth Ainsworth John Eustace Les Ferdinand and all three Gallen brothers Sir Les and the Gallens apart they were all first team managers, but there were likely more I've forgotten or never knew about. |
| Forum Thread | What the future holds... at 22:57 16 Apr 2023
As fans we have an inclination to want the return of beloved players like Francis, Holloway, Ferdinand, and now Ainsworth in a managerial capacity of some sort. It's natural I guess, though experience should show by now it's based more on sentiment than objective reality. It's also made worse when we have naive owners who actually take notice of us, like the present ones do. In this sense we are our own worst enemies. I hope when the emotional waterboarding of the season is finally over the board obtains some educated, objective advice on the club's direction, on and off the field, because the ex-player lottery thing clearly isn't working. Any ideas for them? |
| Forum Thread | Ohhh Mama! I got the hamstring blues... at 22:00 15 Apr 2023
Amos out with a hammy, Balogun picks up another late on today and is out for the remaining matches most likely. How many of our players haven't had a hamstring issue this season? It's almost like QPR's own personal covid. |

Weak, frail, brittle. decrepit, flimsy, feeble, lame, tame, puny.... Pick your poison. We lost that match within 42 seconds. Done like dinner. We are able to beat the best teams in this division, but the the poorest can beat us as easily as a kid pulls the wings off an insect. In over 74 years I don't recall ever seeing a team touching such extremes so quickly. Frankly I have absolutely no clue how that can be rectified in the remaining weeks of the season. |
| Forum Thread | Burnley under transer embargo at 19:49 12 Mar 2023
Statement from the club: We would like to share with our supporters the disappointing news that the EFL are placing the club under an immediate transfer embargo. We believe transparency in these matters is paramount and we want to explain why this has happened. In our continued efforts to improve and move forward Burnley Football Club we made the decision to change our auditors in November and the transition has taken longer than we anticipated. We can confirm that we have provided draft accounts and financial information to the EFL’s Club Financial Reporting Unit and we continue to have regular dialogue with the unit to ensure we remain as open and as transparent and answer any questions the League may have. We believe the EFL will have no issue with the detail of our accounts other than their late submission and fully understand and support their position and efforts to sanction any club who fails to comply with any of their regulations. Both the Club and our new auditors are confident this can be resolved swiftly and we hope our submission will be made next month at which point the embargo will be lifted. We once again wish to assure supporters this will have no detriment to the ongoing success and development of the Club as we move forward. |

Never been an RU fan, and I know they've been a nuisance to a number of FL clubs – including ourselves – through groundsharing over the past number of years. But it's always a shame when a club that's been around for so long goes under. There but for the grace... etc, etc. |

The last couple of matches have given the first concrete examples of why so many football people are high on the guy. Sure, the team's not the finished article yet, nor are they 100% comfortable playing his system, but clearly they're buying in and you'd expect things only to get better. OK, I'm a natural born optimist (who occasionally wears a pessimistic overcoat) but the past couple of matches show early – very early – indications of this being the most exciting QPR team since 2011. (Hope I haven't jinxed it already!) [Post edited 30 Aug 2022 23:34]
