I would like to put an idea forward and wonderd what peoples thoughts would be.I personally think that something should be done to honor Moggy.Besides all the walking etc for charity he has done, the streaking etc.I think it may not have been realised by many people that over the years especially through the hard times of the club when it was at its lowest point,he played a large part in creating interest and atmosphere in the sandy and i reckon that if it wasn't for Moggy, there would have been quite a few who wouldn't have attended.I think maybe the older generation will get my jist.I will never forget Moggy and will be forever in his debt for making my visits to spotland and other places such a joy. I put forward that the sandy be named after him and his ladder permenantly fixed to it. Peoples thoughts please.
in football and maybe tempt them up to spotland. Just a thought but what about a tournament held throughout the season, maybe groups in the lines of a mini international cup competition with the final held at spotland at the end of the season. Each team could represent their country of origin say, like Poland,England,India,Pakistan and so on and so on.Bit of fun i'm sure and would surely help in bringing the townsfolk together. Thoughts please ?
What things and places have a special place in your Rochdale childhood......... Some of mine are Brights nursery on whitwoth rd Heybrook school Howarth cross Football and sports against other schools around Rochdale Rochdale baths ABC cinema Holingworth lake Fair on cattle market (now cop shop) Ashy valley flats Loads more.
Swapping rotten apples from one barrel to another dosn't make them miraculously become un-rotten.You need to remove them completely so please be patient,he can only work with what he's got. (at the moment)
One for the older generation here. Can anyone remember the first time they watched highlights on tv of a Dale game.I know Dale v Coventry was shown and i remember a tuesday night match (i think) when we played Luton away. The camera was behind the goal and our big Reg blasted one over the bar, think we lost 1-0 not sure though.Anyone have any earlier recollections ?
Can we stop raking over the past and instill overdue positivity back onto this board.Come on lets welcome people viewing comments with something to look forward to instead of whinging etc.It could be the difference between the club gaining approx £400-700 per season for each person who thinks, sod that,i'm not bothering with that.
I think its time the club and fans adopted a song to help creat atmosphere for a start. We need something punchy and with a feelgood factor.I personally think the following song would be excellent to drum up atmosphere,if people could learn it and tannoy man played when Dale come out it would, i think,be pretty good, either with the original words or some tweaking. Turn your sound up when listening.
Do people think a local tournament pre season would be a good idea and good for revenue.Maybe something like the red rose trophy with Rochdale,Oldham,Bury and Accrington or a Lanc's v Yorkshire trophy along the same line.I think all the clubs involved would benefit financially and would be a good start to the season. Whats your thoughts I know we used to have the Lancashire cup (which we won at home against oldham) and the rose bowl but i think it would work and benefit both club and fans.
He should be banned from playing football in this country full stop.No defence whatever for such a callous attack on a young ballboy.Had the incident happened in another part of the ground, chelsea might have been making funeral arrangements this week and rightly so.Also i hope the chelsea fans who applauded Hazards action got their faces smashed in after the game.....if so,i applaud the Jack's.
