Talking
It's not cant or fack. Up here we like our u's, it gives words much more venom and feeling. If you use said terminology in front of us northerners expect a pitying look.
This is true. If you ask for the bass, you'll get a fish, not a bus. All being well, the match will be played on grass , not grarse. If travelling down Manchester Road you'll see a closed pub called The Castle, not the Carstle. Spent years trying to teach a a top bloke who is a Spurs fan these basic principles without success. Don't even get me going on mealtimes - dinna and sappa instead of tea.

Sadly, whippets, flat caps, Gracie Fields, dark satanic mills, tripe have all gone, along with such words as cruckle and nir yead . But we are going to have a sooper doper shopping centre to rival Brents Cross. Unfortunately nobody knows who is going to occupy the shops.
A large VAT Dave

Tip number 729......There are not many jellied eel or pie and liquor shops in Rochdale. You might consider bringing supplies or making some butties before you set off up North. For those driving up you'll know when you reach Rochdale. It's the bit where the M62 is cobbled.

Tripe? We got money from Tranmere for him didn't we?

To avoid the bus travel via Leeds, ticket is slightly more expensive though.
53 minute ride from Manchester to Rochdale on replacement bus. Would getting the tram be a better option?
Yeah by about ten mins. But presume bus is paid for as a London-Rochdale journey. They should accept train tickets on metrolink in these circumstances.

Probably as broad as it's long, James. The problem with the bus is that it might hit traffic and may have to divert to places like Mills Hill, Moston and Castleton, depending on where the train was scheduled to stop. At least the tram can only stay on one track, as it were!
When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Yeah it'll be included in the ticket price.. think you'd have to pay on the tram though but you could chance it

Bluw mi neck is neither an exhortation to deliver sweet nothings just above the shoulder area nor a Korean despot. It's an exclamation of surprise. I just heard it uttered not 2 minutes ago.
Rochdale's a sh1thole. We already know. We are not a town full of paedos Cyril Smith is (thankfully) long gone. Please try to be a bit more imaginative with your banter.
The worm of time turns not for the cuckoo of circumstance.

Our mascot is a dragon.
If you feel like taking the Michael out of this please do so, but the ultimate joke is on you. Only 6 people know the reason why and one of them is mute.
Make that 7

I tried googling the answer to this but couldn't find it,why have Dale got a dragon as a mascot?
