francisbowles added 22:10 - Apr 20 Over the years this has become the script, start brightly, go close but don't score early on and then concede against the run of play. Then proceed to get worse and not get the win. As well as the above, pitch was awful. Before anyone says it is the same for both sides, only one was trying to keep the ball on the ground. (unfortunately, failing to control it) I will also be glad to see the end of this season. Nothing seems to be going right. Going a goal behind and then losing our two most creative players to injury. Ref was very poor as well. What happened when Tarabt was injured in the first half? I thought he had blown for a free kick and then he restarted with a drop ball! I want to see the highlights tonight before I mark the players as I am not sure who was culpable for the first goal. Please give us a win before the end of the season! MelakaRanger added 00:43 - Apr 21 A sad performance indeed. At 70 mins the TV showed Goal Attempts. I think it was QPR 23 Stoke 4. What the..... 23 goal attempts of which maybe 1 or 2 could realistically be called 'attempts' Loads of off target shots from 25-30 yds instead of stopping, thinking, looking and then passing or carrying on. Our passing was rubbish, our spot kicks rubbish. Indeed we were rubbish and Stoke were not that much better at all. Hoilett was forever brushed off the ball, he just has not got any strength or presence. Hill gave away a stupid penalty. That's 3 own goals in 3 games for him effectively. Samba not the man mountain we have been told he is. M'bia had a quiet game too. Strangely Boswinga didn't have a 'bad' game I cant see us getting another point this season. I cant see this team doing well in the Championship without major surgery. I too hope that before next weekend we are down as that will change the line up and maybe Harry will play just those who will be staying and start to rebuild from there. Dennick added 03:40 - Apr 21 We made Stoke look better than they are simply wth poor passing, shooting from a long range and failing to hold the ball in the middle again. The truth is we dont have the talent to stay in the PL and never have had. I hope the sell off starts soon and a young side built around two -three outstanding youngsters is the way we go even if it takes an extra year or so to get back . probbo added 10:03 - Apr 21 It was inevitable we'd lose to a team who prior to the start had only won once away this season and that Crouch, one of our allegged January targets, would score only his second goal in 27 matches. Its a shame Diakite didn't get a start after coming on last week but I don't think he'd have made much difference. TreeHugger added 11:10 - Apr 21 Bit harsh on AL. he did ok, just as everyone else did. No one really played that well, can hardly pick AL out. He has just come back from injury, prior to that he was making Ramirez look like a shower of sh*t. England call up, bagged a few goals, scored on his return from injury….the boy is class. That was fox’s best game this season. He is a half decent squad player that might be worth hanging on to come end of the season. Lambert looked knackered, so did Jrod. Puncheon didn’t offer much when he came on but I just think it was one of those game. It’s good to see that Poch is making subs a lot quicker than Adkins would. He is also making more of the right ones from what I can see. Great save from boruc at the end as well. Only negative was Poch’s jeans, too short and too tight. I think him and NC were going on the piss straight after the game probbo added 12:23 - Apr 21 It was inevitable we'd lose to a team who prior to the start had only won once away this season and that Crouch, one of our allegged January targets, would score only his second goal in 27 matches. Noelmc added 13:36 - Apr 21 It was a game when we needed to score first to lift the players and the crowd and we started reasonably brightly with Adel posing a real threat. However Stoke had obviously done their homework and realised how poor we are on free kicks in promising positions and cynically fouled to break up threatening attacks, aided by the lenient Chris Foy who kept his yellow card in his pocket. They then easily coped with the resulting free kicks. After Crouchie's goal our remaining hopes of geeting back in the game went with the departures of Townsend & Taarabt through injury. Any creativity went with them. Hoilett was once again very poor and it seemed that every time the ball went to him we lost possesion. He's far too lightweight in my opinion, another SWP. The low mark so far for Samba however seems a bit harsh as I thought he was reasonably solid apart from the first goal and had a couple of very decent goal attempts. The only bright spot for me was meeting and chatting to the LFW crew in the Crown & Sceptre before the game. This website and their efforts with it, have been by far the best thing in this depressing season. Keep up the great work, Clive & all. tsbains64 added 14:48 - Apr 21 if only......that sums up our season really. We started so brightly-if only one of those chances had gone in Remy was delightful to watch,Taarabt was impressive and Townsend was his usual incisive self. Shame we went 0-1 down to their only attempt on goal but was there a foul in the build up...if only Second huddle was a good idea but why did Mackie not join in? We hustled and bustled but Stoke were the better team. Hill looked innocent but was guilty like hell If we cant beat an Stoke then the Championship is the only option Looking around I wonder what the line up will be in August? I hoe a few of the bug signings stay...but if only!! Delightful support from the fans from Norway....shame about the result SaintNick added 08:20 - Apr 22 Contary to the belief of some, Im not that great a fan of Fox, but I find myself sticking up for him just because of the pack mentality that surrounds him, on Saturday he did well and perhaps lostboys would like to consider that the times he looked dreadful was the times he found himself exposed due to Adam lallana not covering back. In Fridays preview I was lambasted for daring to suggest that Pochettino might not automatically put Shaw straight back in the team, personally I thought that maybe he should have, but the manager made the decision not me and it turned out to work LostBoys added 10:09 - Apr 22 Fair point but as an example when Dyer cut inside him and Fox thought he was going outside which Dyer rarely does. Other than a few lapses I thought Fox had a really good game and I would not like to play behind Lallana and it became obvious when Swansea changed their shape with Routledge coming on to exploit right midfield. While I accept that no one except Cork had a really good game, I thought Lallana was dreadful in and out of possession and the lazy backheel in the first half when we were 4 on 3 was poor. also I do not like him remonstrating with the full back whether it be Fox or Shaw when he is the one that has given the ball away or has not tracked back. I would not have made him skipper and I think he should relinquish it until he gets his form back.
