Montero and Gomis Tonight 15:29 - Jan 18 with 2650 views | Vetchfieldpasty | Controversial but think I would play both Montero and Gomis tonight. We were desperate for some attacking threat against Sunderland, even before the Red card, and cant see either a diamond formation or Ayew offering that. Also would play Ayew as No. 10 as Gylfi no matter how hard he is working is offering little in the final 3rd. So my team would be.... Fab, Rang, Tayls, Ash, Fed, Leon, Cork, Ayew, Barrow, Montero, Gomis
Montero and Gomis Tonight on 15:34 - Jan 18 with 2609 views | AustinIsOurHero | I can see something like the following: Fab Amat Ash Fede Rangel Taylor Leon Cork Gylfi Ayew Gomis 3-5-2, all the rage in Italy in the 90's.

Montero and Gomis Tonight on 15:37 - Jan 18 with 2561 views | Pegojack | I would go with: Fab Naughton, FF, Ash, Taylor Cork (or Ki), Britton, Siggy Montero, Ayew, Barrow Routs was poor last Wednesday (he's so feckin inconsistent) and Gomis drags everyone down in my opinion.

I'm really starting to warm to this formation and I think it is certainly worth a go. The only issue is it is a pretty big change, but maybe it is what we need. An Italian manager coming in might mean we see this, be interesting that is for sure.

Montero and Gomis Tonight on 15:49 - Jan 18 with 2440 views | oldcob | Monterro and Gomis only play well in fine weather. They don't like the wind, the wet and the cold, they like the sun on their backs. Just check their form at the start and end of the season when the weather is fine against the crap they serve up in between.

I like the look of this on paper. My only concern is that we may end up being too narrow with players getting in each other's way - particularly Siggy and Ayew. Especially as the game gets on and Rangel's legs start to go... I'm also not sure if Amat is up for 90 mins - he was hanging at Oxford by the end. Having said that - if it clicks with Taylor & Rangel controlling the wings then we'll dominate the middle and should have a real goal threat. Optimistic.

It's not actually a massive change. We have been playing 4 at the back lately, but Leon has been dropping between the centre backs when in possession, they have split and the full backs have pushed forward, effectively making it a 3-5-2 or 3-5-1-1 when we have the ball anyway. When we don't, Leon moves forward a bit and the full backs drop back into a back four. I prefer that to actually starting with 3 centre backs because it is more flexible. Problem with it, is we have been playing it with a flurry of attacking midfielders and no out and out striker.
Montero and Gomis Tonight on 16:14 - Jan 18 with 2209 views | PozuelosSideys | Changing formations, no matter how small or subtle is never easy. It takes a lot of effort on the training pitch and a number of games on it for players to learn the roles and for them to understand where they should be on the pitch and when. The combination play is not something which happens overnight It may work, it may not. But I really wouldn't be going down that route in the position we are currently in, particularly a game we pretty much have to win.

Montero and Gomis Tonight on 16:19 - Jan 18 with 2179 views | tomdickharry | Montero is a must for me tonight against Nyom who is not the greatest full back in the world,Barrow did well against Sunderland and should start as it appears Watford left back tonight is returning after injury,my team Fabianski Rangel:Williams:Fernandez:Taylor: Siggy:Briton:Ki: Barrow:Ayew:Montero: At least no novice Referee tonight.
Montero and Gomis Tonight on 16:19 - Jan 18 with 2179 views | jasonbromham | I would make 1 or 2 changes tops! Fabianski Naughton Fernandez Williams Taylor Britton Cork Barrow Sigurdsson Routledge/Montero Ayew Subs: Nordfeldt, Amat, Rangel, Ki, Routledge/Montero, Emnes, Gomis. I certainly wouldn't play Gomis.

Thats my team too. Ki has to learn that we are in a relegation battle and start putting the tackles in. I still rate him though, just needs a shake up that being dropped to the bench could give him.

Not adverse to 3-5-2 as a formation but with our current squad it presents a few personnel challenges as our full/wing backs either lack pace or creativity/crossing ability. If we were feeling brave we could drop Leon in as one of the 3, like Barca do with Mascherano, which means Amat can cover from the bench (which thankfully leaves Bartley in the stands) so we'd set-up :- Fav's Fede Leon Ash Naughts - Cork - Siggy - Ki - Tayls Ayew Gomis Bench : Nordfelt, Rangel, Amat, Routs, Montero, Barrow & Emnes/Grimes
Montero and Gomis Tonight on 16:56 - Jan 18 with 2002 views | ItchySphincter | Got to play Gomis and Montero. Ki needs to be dropped from a great height. We have to play any player that carries an attacking threat. Jeff's gone of the boil since the Stoke game when they showed how easily to isolate him by not letting Taylor cross the halfway line. If Taylor can't find a way through replace him instead.

Montero and Gomis Tonight on 17:20 - Jan 18 with 1923 views | ThurrockJack92 | I would certainly bring Montero on later in the game as an impact sub. I would leave Gomis on the bench though as we seem to play better with Ayew up top.
