Fully understand the disappointment at being beaten 6 2 was the team we played our strongest line up No was it a reasonably strong team yep . To be fair with QPR's record in the FA Cup there is no guarantee of our strongest team beating a weakened Leicester team and Leicester's team was basically their first choice eleven.
We have not won an away FA Cup game other than replays this Millennium . I fully understand peoples ire but sadly this is how the FA Cup is treated these days with very few clubs putting out anything like their strongest team.

Mr / Mrs / ms Hubble I take your point . In the cold light of a Monday morning it does come across as a bit high and mighty . Keeps saying I shouldn’t post on a Sunday night but I still do .

However I do stand by the premise and for that we’ll have to agree to disagree . My last paragraph as follows.

“Listen I don’t expect our fan base to accept losing 6-2. It hurts .
Some of the criticism has been fair and deserved .
But 25 pages, multiple threads , personal attacks , calling the coach and someone who continues to polish an ever growing turd….a liar…. Come on .”

I stand by that as I saw posters who I greatly respect resort to some weird old rants and it was more those I got annoyed with , but didn’t mean to belittle anybody nonetheless,so apologies where needed .

The only way to rectify this would be, starting next year, stand our ground and voice that nobody will be buying a ticket for FAC 3rd round until we have club confirmation that we’ll be fielding a full strength side.

That may possibly be asking too much given that we haven’t managed to do that once this entire season but needs must.

Next Jan I will accept nothing less than Cook romping along the back line on crutches and the Tyler fella strapped to his therapist in a holding midfield role.

Fair enough Mart, apology accepted, and thank you for correctly acknowledging my triple-gendered identity.

I've kept my powder dry on this until I'd properly digested my own thoughts and balanced them against what everyone else has been saying, including mart's brilliantly written post.

If this had been last season, Denham, I would have agreed 100% with you and everyone else on your side of the debate - no question.

However, I was very ill with a horrendous respiratory viral infection all weekend which nearly had me hospitalised, and my one friend whilst I navigated my way through this medical minefield was 5Live's coverage of the Third Round.

The Tamworth v Tottenham tie in particular was an absolute joy to listen to - all the old cup cliches were there in abundance, and were dutifully milked by the BBC, but the thing that I kept coming back to was actually how strong the majority of sides put out by their respective managers were: Newcastle, Liverpool, Bournemouth, Man Utd, Arsenal: it felt like something of a genuine rebirth, and fanned by the BBC's extensive coverage of it.

No doubt about it - we've dropped a substantial bollard this time around, especially seeing who we would have got next round.

Putting up a gallant fight against Man Ure in a 5th round cup tie at leaky Old Trafford AND finishing beautifully cuddled up in the bosom of Clive's predicted 13th place in the league this season is something I think the majority of us would have happily accepted. Now we've got half the fanbase unnecessarily upset and irritated, lost out on a shedload of cash and positive exposure AND we're no closer to guaranteeing the mid-table finish despite the sacrifice.

Hope you're feeling better, E15.

Agree, and especially so in retrospect when that draw for the next game would have given us a game with Man U. I thought that other than poor defending on the right side we played well 1st half and at half time thought we could win it if we brought Dunne on. I understand why the key players were rested, but as said they wouldn't have been for a League game. The League is rightly imo given priority but given our mid-table position and lower table PL opposition we had beaten already this year, we should have put out our best team as Leicester did. It was winnable.

Cheers, Bri - yes, almost back to full working capacity, but there were a few scary moments between late Friday and late Saturday pm.
