Band wanted to make a double album and sell it for the price of a single album. Record company said said No, commercial suicide. So band said “can we make a single album and gives away a free 12” single/EP with it ?” Record company agreed. Band put 8 tracks on the ‘free’ EP (and added another unlisted on the cover and switched the rpm from 45 to 33 at the last minute.
Commercial suicide bit them onntheir next release - Sandinista, a triple album for the price of a double….!

Too many to choose from but as a teenager Elton was my favourite artist so I will go for Captain Fantastic. Second choice would be a Steely Dan album but which one?
New Gold dream 81 82 83 84 , Simple minds . Mostly recorded in Shepards Bush. Lots of Stones albums contenders but a wonderful time in my life so gets the nod.
New Gold Dream is an amazing album ... It was a crossover point for the band from avant-garde to commercial and the end result kind'a ticks both boxes.
I don’t think the perfect album exists… one where every single track is pure gold. There’s always a couple of tracks I tend to skip.

As already mentioned too many favorites to pick just one. But if I were to choose an album that I have listened to the most (wore out the vinyl, had to buy CD version) over the years, it has to be Breezin' by George Benson. Yes, I'm a soppy git.
