Nah, not having that, plenty I keep playing, one of which has even been mentioned on here *! My favourite, right now and for a few years, is 'winter' by new model army, but on a sunny day, not so much !
*'Script of the bridge'.
In louder moments, 'living in darkness' by agent orange, 'damaged' by black flag, 'mush' by leatherface, 'let the tribe increase'the mob, 'failed states' propagandhi etc etc
On the subject of albums...the best albums always had tracks that when you first heard, you thought, no...but on a few listens, a grower!
I really didn't like this track at all, far too proggy. Years later..wow! I worry that modern ways of 'consuming' music are not conducive to bands experimenting.
melancholy is a bit over rated . Benevolent had its moments, pissed is good although you cant beat a bit of open the fridge, slice a bit of cheese, dip a bit of humus , crackers, bit of ham mood.
They adapt, they change, they experiment, they aren't playing the same songs they were 30 years ago. One of the things I really like about them. Their new album is a live recording with a symphonic orchestra. The same track...
Looking forward to hearing the complete album, this track doesn't work so well for me as it's taken the urgency out of it.
First album I ever bought has to be a contender, Axis Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix.
Others would include:
Two from Terry Reid - River and Seeds of Memory Harmony Row, Jack Bruce Galactic Zoo Dossier, Kingdom Come Octopus, Gentle Giant In The Land Of Grey & Pink, Caravan Future Games, Spirit Disraeli Gears, Cream
Of the first five Metallica albums, Kill 'Em All is the worst but I'd put Ride The Lightning as a close second. I was a huge Metallica fan back in the day, like fully into them, but this album was always patchy.
I had a re-listen recently to confirm my feelings.
Fight Fire With Fire - hate the bit before the solo. Solo is average. Hate the guitar harmony bit. Main riff is good, drumming is good. Ride The Lightning - is okay. Solo starts bad, gets better, then gets awful. Is average. Don't like the vocals. For Whom The Bell Tolls - really plodding dull track. The only thing I like about it is Kirk's whammy stuff in the outro. So dull. Fade to Black - bent as a can of chips. I don't mind their acoustic stuff but this feels forced. Trapped Under Ice - pretty generic. Escape - embarrassing. Their worst song until they became a terrible band in the 90s. Creeping Death - feels like a Kill Em All track. Generic thrash. Call of Ktulu - I love an instrumental and this is good. Even Kirk is good on it even if he does fake those sweeped arpeggios. Although listening now, he's such a bad player. Ending is good the bit from 6:50 ish.
Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.
