FIFA World Cup thread. 12:02 - Nov 15 with 136716 viewsSnipper

I’m trying to get excited about this World Cup, but to no avail :-((.

I’ve just watched Sky Sports World Cup preview with Gary Neville, Jamie Redknapp, Jamie Carragher & Karen Carney. Utterly depressing viewing. Same old, same old. Picking players for the starting XI not playing for their clubs, or totally off form.

I’m hoping this thread can get the juices flowing.

Do any of you think England have a chance?

Ghana pull one back, 3-2 now as we go into 100 minutes of added time.

Ronaldo 'managing it' again after being subbed.
What an utter príck.

Completely.

I loved their tackling and blocking today. A real masterclass in controlled aggression. Hardly ever blown either.

It's a real mystery for me. I love Portugal and the Portuguese, great place and really nice people, yet their national side is always very dislikable somehow

This WC has been so wasteful in terms of chances!

Great goal. He and Vinicius are class. But how can Neymar be close to being Brasil's leading ever scorer ? He's gone.

All 4 WC games today were 0-0 at HT. On that basis, they should dispense
with first half's and start each game with the start of the second half.

I remember when Wales fielded a half-back line of Jones, Jones and Jones, and the commentator said it sounded like a firm of solicitors.

Best Brazilian team since….2002? 1994? 1982? I’m wasn’t a believer because I can’t bear Neymar, but incredible athleticism throughout the team and great flair up front off the bench. Better off with His Knobjesty.

I don't know. I honestly don't.

Is that hilarious? Or stupid? Or both?

It should put a stop to those cheeky Italian fans dressing up as Romans then. How far do you have to go back to not be offended by something that has happened centuries before?

Dead right, Stow.

I'm pretty sure that if Scandinavian fans rocked up in Lansdowne Road dressed in Viking helmets it wouldn't raise an eyebrow. Unless that was all they were wearing.

I think that's what I find funny about it. That, and the Crusader in full kit trudging away meekly. There's something Pythonesque about it all.

I dunno, if they draw this and we beat USA then we've qualified top.
