I have posted elsewhere back in the bad old days we had no pot to p in...trained on public parks and were not selling players on to the top division for £10m profit and still have a strike force we are valuing at £25m
I remember the days of re election the rise and fall of the Tosh era the high court the wilderness years...but expectations were based on what we had...since then we have come a long way....I dont forget those days i am grateful of being in the 2nd tier but i worry this manager will be our undoing | |

Exactly, this newly trotted out (but poorly thought out) notion that because we were in League 2 once upon a time then any dross served up by Martin is great is ludicrously stupid.
Especially when these same people complained in a season we came 4th.
As you say, when we were in League 2 we were playing in line with the quality of squad we had and the size of budget we had. It was one of the worst squads and smallest budgets in the whole football pyramid.
Now we have the 8th biggest budget in the Championship and players that most other clubs in this league would fall over themselves to have.
As for where the money comes from to pay off Martin and his team.
Anywhere is my answer. Sell Piroe.
We have a much better chance of success with a competent manager in a side without Piroe than an incompetent manager in charge of a team with Piroe in.

I do have a lot of sympathy for your position - seeing so many posters revert to ‘Martin out’ rather than discussing what can practically make a difference in the next game must be incredibly frustrating if you still believe in Martin’s project.
So here goes.
1 I would drop Fisher for Benda.
2 I would revert to a back four, with Cabango and Darling in CB, Naughton and Manning at FB.
3 I’d spend the rest of the transfer window trying to get some speedy wingers in. Or maybe just one speedy winger, tasked with floating from side to side like Hernandez did under Laudrup.
4 I’d instruct the team to move the ball forward with pace and not be afraid to lose possession by taking a chance.
All of which is a long way of saying that our problems start with the manager, his single-mindedness and the absence of anyone at the club able to tell him where he is going wrong.
Unfortunately our problems probably don’t end when he goes, whenever that might be. As I (and many others) have been predicting for a year now, he will leave us with an unbalanced squad that will take another season, maybe two, to put right, whether he leaves under a cloud or spirited away by a Premier League club.
But let’s not get carried away: we are only two games into the season, a lot can change yet. | |

He offered is usual nothing as far as I could see. Ntcham was gutless and Fulton not much better.
Playing the ball around at walking pace at the back isn't helping anyone to be fair but the game was crying out for someone to take responsibility and at least try to carry the ball forward.
I was ashamed of them today. No guts

I'm with you. It's not entitlement to expect that when a system clearly is not working that the manager will do something about it.
The wing back thing, we don't have players good enough but still he puts them in, Latibeaudiere isn't good enough and its a liability. The slow pace of our game is also a liability, we allow teams to regroup and reset before we get into their half.
I don't expect promotion but I do expect us not to roll over to bang average side in our frst home game of a new season, we should have been up for it but we looked half asleep. | |

All great points especially no 4, it boils my p!ss when you see piroe or oba making runs into clear areas to then the player with the ball just turn and pass it either sideways or back, we need to take chances not worry about keeping the ball as its obviously not working. | | | |
