Stoke City v Swansea City : Matchday Thread THE AFTERMATH 21:09 - Feb 28 with 17813 views | NotLoyal | It’s another exciting encounter in the EFL Championship, and it’s very exciting too. Here is the Matchday thread for this exciting game, it’s really interesting. EFL Championship Stripey Hoof Stadium Wednesday March 3rd 2021 Kick off 8.15pm Match Officials DAVID WEBB Ian Cooper and Daniel Leach Fourth Official : Marc Edwards TELEVISION This game will be shown LIVE on SKY SPORTS football The Graeme Potters and the Super Swans face off again in ( C’mon ) Stoke. Not the best of hunting grounds for the swans over the years and especially after recent results, there are easier places to go. Like Canterbury for instance, the cathedral there allows access to get some lovely graveside rubbings done. On the plus side during Cooper’s last post match press gathering he had the look of a man who had already had his face rubbed with a rubby thing or whatever they use to do these things. History Stoke City v Swansea City Games won: 30. Stoke City are in the ascendancy here Games drawn: 21. Neither side has drawn more than the other Games lost: 24. Or should we say games won by Swansea There are other considerable and memorable moments in history, not necessarily related to this fixture, just in history itself. The Chinese are allegedly the First Nation to invent the grape, that was around 7000 years BC ( Before Cooper ) although that would be 9,000 years BC ? In any event photographs from back then show grapes being sold in markets and fermented in to wine. It is now known by crossing a very small balloon and a drop of water the grape is made. Cleaver folk the Chinese. That may lead me on to who invented the balloon, but not in this particular thread. A picture of the first grapes discovered by Chinese people way back before TV and motorised teeth Incredible when you think that at no time have they featured on a takeaway menu. I’ll mention it next time I’m down my local takeaway the ‘Thai Tanic’ although it’s more favourable the guys who run ‘Chipsy Kings’ will be more responsive. My favourite takeaway in my neck of the woods is ‘For cod and for Ulcer’ over in the red, white and blue part of town. Great battered sausages. Although I’m a vegan, if I wasn’t they would be on my menu, but they aren’t. If it had a face and you eat it you are a part of the problem, not the solution, especially for pigs. A pig yesterday Stoke City Facts Stoke City have had to put up with several rugby references over the years, so much so the football league now allow them to run whilst carrying the ball. A Stoke player in action in the past, see how he glides with the ball in one hand ? Pre-match trivia Stoke are unbeaten in their last nine home league games against Swansea (W7 D2), winning each of their last four in a row. Swansea last completed a league double over Stoke back in 2000-01 in the third tier. Stoke have lost their last two games in the Championship, while they have only lost three in a row in the competition once previously under Michael O’Neill (in December 2019). Swansea have suffered defeats in two of their last three Championship games (W1), as many defeats as they had in their previous 17 league games combined. Both of Stoke boss Michael O’Neill’s previous Championship games against Swansea have ended 2-0, with Stoke winning one and losing the other. Their 2-0 victory did come in this exact fixture last season, however. Match Report https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/swanseacity/news/54414/stoke-city-1-swans

Stoke City v Swansea City : Matchday Thread THE AFTERMATH on 00:08 - Mar 4 with 1205 views | AndyCole | Only one team in it from 65 mins. As is often the case. We're deservedly back on track. Our resilience, toughness and belief is our biggest strength. Which comes directly from our manager. On paper, player for player Stoke win it comfortably. Yet the sum of our parts is so superior. What Cooper has achieved so far is beyond everyone's wildest dreams. Pretty sure Birch is enjoying this, flicking through Cooper's powerpoint presentation in awe and admiration. Cooper's detractors, you know who you are, find another hobby.

Stoke City v Swansea City : Matchday Thread THE AFTERMATH on 00:19 - Mar 4 with 1171 views | Badlands | Stoke had the upper hand in midfield for much of the game and that was where their only threat came from. But it was a lucky win. Roberts' goal was world class but without the softest of penalties we only had three chances. Another game where Cooper didn't have a clue. His one sub didn't get time to get into the game. His one sub replaced a sluggish (off form) Lowe with a slow and ineffective Hourihane. If he'd put some speed up front from 65 minutes it could have been far more comfortable. Great win, great 3 points and decent performance.

Stoke City v Swansea City : Matchday Thread THE AFTERMATH on 00:38 - Mar 4 with 1143 views | AndyCole | You're right. With CH in the hole we flourished, a double whammy as Lowe was struggling. Knocked Stoke for six, they couldn't cope with our options as Cooper cleverly went for the kill. With Roberts and Manning so off the scale industrious, Grimes bossing and controlling, Smith cleverly busy, and Fulton floating with intent we can afford the luxury of CH in the hole as our canny celtic magician. Couldn't make it up. Well, Cooper has, with aplomb.

Stoke City v Swansea City : Matchday Thread THE AFTERMATH on 00:43 - Mar 4 with 1135 views | Dr_Parnassus | Very well said. That Stoke team is very strong. Joe Allen and Jon Obi Mikel in the centre would grace any midfield in the division. The fact we went to Stoke and came back from a goal down, a criticism levelled at the side just shows the character in the club.

Stoke City v Swansea City : Matchday Thread THE AFTERMATH on 00:46 - Mar 4 with 1133 views | swancity | Almost all of that is bollox again You’ve got that last sentence right and that’s it We had 10 goal attempts with seven on target to their nine with two hitting the target. If was a lucky penalty of course it was and they also had chances but it wasn’t a “ lucky win “. You make your own luck in this game and our lads battled and competed superbly. But I think it’s more about giving our team and manager praise for that tonight. To concede like that so early and to come back from it shows what this team is capable of. They’re a team of grafters, fighters with spirit. Cooper made a superb substitution by bringing Hourihane on and from that point we dominated the game. It was a bold and certainly unusual move but it allowed us to outnumber their midfield as Stoke had looked dangerous after half time. You seem to be one of the very few who didn’t enjoy us winning tonight. Are you really Swansea fan ?

Stoke City v Swansea City : Matchday Thread THE MATCH on 00:49 - Mar 4 with 1129 views | onehunglow | We are . We despise ref decisions when players kid refs. If we benefit, we are happy . Cooper is ver lucky.. Stoke had 2 chances to win and both were shocking misses. Remember how Sterling was abused when he dived Gettit

Stoke City v Swansea City : Matchday Thread THE AFTERMATH on 00:51 - Mar 4 with 1123 views | Dr_Parnassus | Apology not necessary. Mikel would be towards the end of his career granted, however Joe Allen is 30 and would stroll into our midfield and will be a key part of Wales Euro charge. To say you feel sorry for him is just being silly, as you know. That pass he made in the second half for Fletcher was world class.

Stoke City v Swansea City : Matchday Thread THE AFTERMATH on 00:56 - Mar 4 with 1117 views | onehunglow | No,nige.Again you make assumptions. Accept the fact you ain’t got a clue. We will take anything to get us back to the Orem including diving or play acting which Naughton was doing all night. It’s the play off final,we get a penalty that is a clear mistake.Yountelling me you wouldn’t take it. We are seeing mass hypocisy tonight here ,it’s aresecurling. Players go to ground easily. They cheat to get decisions. Sometimes it works ,others it don’t. I’m glad we are now more street wise but save me the sermon

Stoke City v Swansea City : Matchday Thread THE MATCH on 00:58 - Mar 4 with 1113 views | Dr_Parnassus | He didn’t dive. His heels were clipped, but it clearly wasn’t intentional and could be argued it was more of a “coming together” as they say these days. That’s not Naughtons fault. Anyone who thinks it is not a penalty should direct their annoyance at the ref as opposed to Cooper or Naughton. We deserved the win and did just that. I know that in this day and age that upsets some. Again I could hear the groans around certain parts of this forum as we were awarded a 95th chance to win. Sad really.

Stoke City v Swansea City : Matchday Thread THE MATCH on 01:02 - Mar 4 with 1106 views | onehunglow | Clipped . .. Ok then. If it makes you feel good,as clearly we seem to want to feel vindicated. No need, just take the points and move on. I don’t care how we get promoted. I don’t care if we go up via hoof ball or by scoring just penalties.

Stoke City v Swansea City : Matchday Thread THE MATCH on 01:08 - Mar 4 with 1100 views | Dr_Parnassus | Yep the contact was clear. It wasn’t a dive. The defenders knee came across Naughtons calf on the run, meaning it tripped him. You may not agree it was a penalty but to say he dived is clearly not accurate. [Post edited 4 Mar 2021 1:10]

Stoke City v Swansea City : Matchday Thread THE AFTERMATH on 01:10 - Mar 4 with 1098 views | LittleEnglandJack | In fairness, you're spot on there. A quick look at the Stoke forum will tell you most of their fans think the pair of them are complete liabilities- the two weak links in the team. i still think Joe does a decent job for Wales but he and Mikel are certainly a bang average championship pairing.
