It’ll be a sad day... 22:21 - Jun 23 with 11635 views | ItchySphincter | .... when Wayne Routledge leaves the Liberty. One of the all time Greats. Extended to the end of the season, Naughts and Van der Hoof too! 👠

It’ll be a sad day... on 22:23 - Jun 23 with 6928 views | Darran | He’s been decent and steady all the way through he tenure with us,not sure about all time great though.

It’ll be a sad day... on 22:35 - Jun 23 with 6892 views | ItchySphincter | Yeah, I know. He’s been loyal though and found a home with us. Good footballer and under appreciated at times.

It’ll be a sad day... on 23:00 - Jun 23 with 6819 views | majorraglan | I reckon he could be a good coach/manager going forward. Good player, reads the game well, worked with lots of knowledgable people over the years.
It’ll be a sad day... on 23:32 - Jun 23 with 6781 views | NotLoyal | Anyone would be loyal if over 8 years they earned 17 million squids mate.

It’ll be a sad day... on 23:36 - Jun 23 with 6773 views | Kerouac | I have always liked Routs, skilful, clever, player. Held his own every step of the way.

It’ll be a sad day... on 23:48 - Jun 23 with 6760 views | NotLoyal | Hs had his moments agreed, but I'm not sure he gave the club full value.

It’ll be a sad day... on 04:39 - Jun 24 with 6679 views | TimTtam | As he got older he was naturally going to become less effective in the PL. But after the step down a division, he's done well for us again. He also took the pay cut last season so that he could get on the pitch and contribute, when he could've easily sat back and earned more money. And he played out of position in the last few months of that season

It’ll be a sad day... on 06:50 - Jun 24 with 6638 views | jack247 | Hell of an opinion that. In terms of value, I’d put him third behind Leon and Rangel in the modern era. Edit - Ashley Williams runs him close. [Post edited 24 Jun 2020 6:51]

It’ll be a sad day... on 07:26 - Jun 24 with 6592 views | Thornburyswan | This - no issue at all with the value he’s given us, as much off the pitch in latter years & fully deserves/warrants our appreciation - not an ‘all time great’ to me & wouldn’t get in a best Swans 11 but always welcome at the club for me.
It’ll be a sad day... on 07:43 - Jun 24 with 6577 views | pencoedjack | Decent player done well for us over his tenure & of course scored a lovely goal v the Basseys. Also a bonus point 👠
It’ll be a sad day... on 08:12 - Jun 24 with 6553 views | karnataka | That's not necessarily true, if they could have earned £20m elsewhere. And let's not forget, Routs took a big pay cut so he could play for us this season after being released last summer.
It’ll be a sad day... on 08:17 - Jun 24 with 6542 views | karnataka | Spot on. During those few years when we were at our absolute best, he may never have been our best player but he was always the one I enjoyed watching the most. [Post edited 24 Jun 2020 11:15]

It’ll be a sad day... on 08:23 - Jun 24 with 6536 views | Badlands | I would like to see Routledge staying on. From comments of all his Swansea managers he has a wonderful attitude and s intelligent. Could be a real asset on the training ground. (And good enough for another season in the Championship.) [Post edited 24 Jun 2020 8:23]

It’ll be a sad day... on 08:28 - Jun 24 with 6523 views | Dr_Winston | Dyer was only £400k. He's above Routs in the VFM stakes too. As per usual little Nath gets overlooked.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

It’ll be a sad day... on 08:33 - Jun 24 with 6506 views | Jackfath | Look at his assist/goal scoring record for us. I can't work out why a professional player who has been paid so much money can only use one foot.

It’ll be a sad day... on 08:35 - Jun 24 with 6505 views | ItchySphincter | Nath has been wonderful too, it doesn’t have to be one or the other. IMO, taking both at their peak Nath was the better winger, Routs was the better footballer. Routs rightly got stick over his finishing but he got so many chances and saw so much of the ball because he has a proper football brain. [Post edited 24 Jun 2020 8:36]

It’ll be a sad day... on 08:56 - Jun 24 with 6467 views | swan65split | AGREE I have always l;liked him, and a few years ago I thought his form was superb, and even thought there was a international; call; up on its way, then he faded for for a while, but seems sensible and looks a good one for the youngsters too look up too
It’ll be a sad day... on 08:58 - Jun 24 with 6467 views | JesusJack | If Wayne had done more - more goals and/or assists - he would have been snapped up long before now and we wouldn't be having this discussion. He is the perfect type of player that a club like us should be looking for. One transfer fee (plus wages) for 9 years of service reduces the need to go out and spend bigger transfer fees (and wages) for journeymen and flops. Judging by the comments from some of our players, they all seem to look up to him as well so that's something else he also brings to the team. Legend.
