I genuinely never understand why skates bring up attendances, by virtually every metric we absolutely rinse you on it, and have done since the late 40s early 50s.
Yes like any club we've had a few shockers, the league cup semi final at Anfield and the cup semi final (not league cup final you din) weren't our best moments, but that aside we regularly get close to double your attendance at home and have, in one instance, taken more than your average home crowd to an away game (Dellhurst).
In fact for the away game in Milan we took more away that day than you had for some cup games at home that season, and that's a thursday night in Europe.
If i was a skate i'd keep very, very quiet about attendances, because frankly for a city of almost identical population your support is incredibly small and sh*t. | | | |

Your lot always start on attendances, just follow the thread, and Southampton is a bigger city than Portsmouth. circa 40-50k. These are big years for your club, and yet you haven't achieved much on the attendance front or on the pitch, and that is a fact. All clubs have high and low periods. | |

We don't think it's about attendances, in fact you'll find a large amount of the time Saints fans don't even bring it up, it tends to be a reaction to you dumb f*cks being obsessed with your own fans and believing a bunch of lies and hype.
I'd say as a fanbase we're naturally pretty cynical and down on things, despite the fact that by most metrics we're the most successful club on the south coast for the last 60 years (attendence, years spent in the top flight, top finishes, signings, players produced, times in Europe, England players from the club, number of international players, cup finals attended etc.).
The only thing that you really beat us on, annoyingly, is the most important, trophies won.
But you're unlikely to hear any Saints fan disagree that for a club our size our trophy haul is terrible. | | | |

We were but it needed pointing out that you were getting gates half the size of the big boys. United pulled in 82,000 the season before as well, your ground held just under 60,000 at its height yet you only ever twice got crowds a shade over 50,000 in your greatest era. You just got lucky with giving free tickets away plus glory hunters and rubber-neckers who quickly disappeared after your brief fling with success.

Historically our attendances are really nothing to shout about hence why generally most saints fans would not bring it up. But despite that historically our attendances are much bigger than yours. That is shocking with the amount of trophies and fans that you have. Maybe Portsmouth as a city is just bored of winning so much that they cant be bothered to turn up? | | | |
