Based upon the intelligence presented, which we know now was deeply flawed. As I said. IDS comments weren't based upon the dossier so not sure why you're acting as if I've made that claim?

Any opposition - Tories, Labour, Monster Raving Loony party - can only go on the intelligence provided. Opposition don't have their own intelligence service, after all.

If it was only based upon all that, they'd have all been wrong, sure.

Dossiers were sexed up, parliament was misled. That's entirely on Blair. There's a massive difference between action upon flawed intelligence and deliberately misleading.

True mate, these scumbags are protected to the hilt when alive, everything is hushed up and brushed under the carpet.....they have a lot of friends in high places who all know each others secrets, and when it does eventually come out, its way to late for anything to be done about it most of the time. Blair is no different. Vile human being. They hung Saddam for what he done. Blair IMO is responsible for atrocities far worse than sadam

Gary linekar needs to stick to talking shite on motd.

Tony Blair lied to the British people over the Iraq WMD issue and tried years later to get forgiveness from us by blubbering through a press announcement saying that he misinterpreted intelligence information !!!!

The guy should be tried along with George w bush and impisioned for the unlawful killing of British soldiers.

Crawl back under your rock Tony Blair, the British people have voted democratically and the decision made...... I wonder how much he was paid to make that speech...300k or possibly 1million. Scum!!!!

Back on topic I agree with everything he is saying. It is such a shame that he is saying it though. I hope now some more political heavyweights will join him.
I think it is massively optimistic to get the public to change their minds as the timescale will not allow it. From what I can see is that once the button to leave has been pressed next month the process is irreversible.
At least some good may come out of it as we will have and alternative argument being put forward. I hope this will be in tandem with Labour's intention to scrutinise the process to ensure the best deal for Britain. I must say I have been disappointed with their Tory lite stance so far. Maybe this will help.
Currently May looks like she has waved the while flag. Is willing to accept she will get nothing and turn the UK into a tax haven.
The rich getting richer and the poor poorer will suit the Torys. Make no mistake this is a perfect scenario for them. No more deficit reduction targets. It is going up as a result of Brexit so austerity with knobs on will continue. Once it all goes tits up those in Parliament who voted to accept the referendum will blame the Brexiters who voted for it. Saying they were only carrying out the democratic will even though they disagreed. The only culpable ones will be the Tories who wanted out in the first place and UKIP. It is win win for all the other Politicians who voted to accept the outcome.

As a couple of others have said, I agree with pretty much everything Blair said today. Quite why they thought that the almost universally despised Tony Blair was the best person to deliver this important message is beyond me though.

Ironic really that Blair was probably the one who played the biggest part in sowing the seeds of Brexit in the first place.

I'm open to debate on this but attacking the Tories for pushing through Brexit when the majority of British people voted for it smacks of sour grapes. Whether your labour, Tory or aligned to any other party we all want an open and honest debate in formulating the best Brexit plan for the British people in accordance with a realistic timeline.

I agree with the crux but it's a fact that if it wasn't for Cameron trying to lance the decades old Tory boil on Europe while at the same time trying to pull the rug from under Farage and UKIP there wouldn't have been a referendum. It was an attempted quick fix for internal Tory divisions which backfired on the instigator in the most spectacular way imaginable.

Blair is an arrogant fool. I know people who voted to remain and others who vote to leave. I don't know anyone who didn't know what they voted for or change their minds either from either side. He's probably only interested in lining his own pockets the corrupt greedy little sod

So in other words, although blair has caused untold deaths on all
Sides through his decisions, responsible for destroying the middle east and making the world the most dangerous its probably ever been whilst making millions off it, that's OK with wingnut lineker because blair spouts the same left wing shlt that lineker agrees with. Got to love these champagne socialist lol

I do like mr lineker.

Mr Blair is quite correct, of course.
Its more than a shame that Jezza Corbyn failed to rally the Labour vote to Remain.
And then compounded that monumental failure by actually voting for hard Tory Brexit.
Normal people will suffer and Labour went missing in action. Unforgivable.

I am not keen on mr blair btw.

Blair promised a referendum before we signed the Lisbon treaty then changed his mind and signed it anyway. His wife Cherie made millions out of the ECHR she must still need the money.

This,

Many on PS criticising the man, as is their right, I also cannot forgive him for the war in Iraq that IDS had implored him to start 6 months earlier.

However, it's impossible to put any coherent or logical argument against anything he said in his speech today.

It was similar in content to the speech Mrs May made when home secretary early in 2016.

If the Remain camp thought that getting Blair to speak out on their behalf was a wise move, their strategists are even f*cking dumber than Donald Trump.

Blair is a Brit Nat Red Tory, he was more of a Tory than Mrs Thatcher look at the sad state the country is in as a legacy and look at all the dead in the Middle East including our own soldiers and the associated problem as another legacy.

As a socialist I will never understand why people voted for Thatcher and Blair, I wonder if the people that voted for Thatcher and Blair now regret it ?

Tony Bliar is a warmongerer who tried to foist the Euro on us. Consign him to history or impeach for treason. All he is trying to do is line his pocket with more buck$ for his next round of after dinner speeches.
