Wasn't on board with selling shelvey to a relegation rival but considering our financial position, having to sell in order to buy, other options in his position and the fact that he just isn't invested in our club anymore it looks like the only option.
Plus 12 million is a great bit of business if true, although I think it will be less.
If shelvey goes for 12 and we bring in de Jong for 3.7 as reported I'd be happy anyway. | | | |

I agree if you are saying that it is beyond comprehension that anyone would pay that for him.
But even if it is less, the fee and wages would, in my opinion, be better spent on a player that at least wants to be part of our club, even if their so-called natural talent is lower.
The world is littered with people (not just sports stars) who had natural talent and no discipline or drive to go with that talent. Most of them are to be found propping up a bar and boring everyone with their 'I could have been a contender' type speeches.
Similarly there are those with less natural talent but who spend every minute trying to make themselves as good as they possibly can be. I know which I would prefer when the chips are down. | | | |

'Seem' is the operative word here. We all know he is a talented players and a game changer. Selling him to a relegation rival is folly IMHO.
Also what would we spend the money on? Are we confident a competent replacement would come here and, more importantly, is our scouting system up to the job of finding such a player that will blend into our style?

I'd feel much more comfortable if he went to Palace. When in the mood, which I can't see him ever being in while still here, he can win a game from nowhere. You only got to look at the Southampton away game last year.

The commentators said that he was trying too hard in the first half against Oxford. He was forcing the game a trying to get one of his shots in. I agree. How many times have we complained we arn't shooting enough? In the second half it all fell to bits and we were losing the ball right left and centre. I don't recall his passes going adrift as many of the others. It was not a great performance but very few did play well and he is in good company there at the mo. I need to look at the socks video I guess. | |

Actually, I agree with that. £10 million seems a bargain for a 23yr old with his best years in front of him who's an England international and with extensive PL experience.
