Remainder of the season consolidation? 16:43 - Jan 6 with 6577 views | Parlay | The impact of Bony leaving is going to be huge, it cannot be understated how much this will change our play, even down to our tactical approach. This will be incredibly hard to adjust to and I just hope the fans remain patient with on field matters as this is going to take some adapting. Partnerships and understandings are going to have to be forged over time like Siggy and Bony did. I think instead of pushing on for top 6, our realistic target now must be just for a mid-table finish with anything higher as a bonus. We have got a lovely cushion in terms of points to cope with losing Bony and hopefully by next season we will be firing on all cylinders with our new starting striker.

Remainder of the season consolidation? on 17:45 - Jan 6 with 1042 views | JBT95 | If Bony had hadn't been so hot headed we could have easily drew with Southampton after matching them with 10 men for half a game. The Newcastle game how the hell we never won that. Stupid pen vs the Palace. Spurs... well everybody knows. Its all little mistakes and yes they add up but we aren't a million miles off 4th so why we can't challenge for 6th is beyond me.
Remainder of the season consolidation? on 17:46 - Jan 6 with 1040 views | oh_tommy_tommy | We are 3/4 players short of being a very good top 8 team . Maybe 5/6 of a top 6 We will never be top six unless the money situation changes at our club .

Remainder of the season consolidation? on 17:50 - Jan 6 with 1013 views | Parlay | Yes yes darran of course it is, how ludicrous to suggest we will now have to lower our aims now Wilf is looking likely to go. Now if only i could get attention from mocking people in comas and wishing people dead. Go away, creature.

Remainder of the season consolidation? on 17:52 - Jan 6 with 1003 views | Musical_Swan | To be fair, if anything we are over acheaving. Certainly didn't expect us to be doing as well as this at this stage of the season. Surely finishing the season where we are now would of exceeded most peoples pre-season predictions. There is a huge gap between the likes of us and the big teams, but we are deservedly matching the likes of Liverpool, Spurs and Everton at the moment. I for one am a happy Jack.

Remainder of the season consolidation? on 17:53 - Jan 6 with 996 views | Parlay | What absolute nonsense. We have a better squad now than when we finished 9th 2 years ago. Southampton are odds on for a top 6 finish, did they spend hundreds of millions then? No. We are a few players short, for sure. But so is everybody else we are competing with.

Remainder of the season consolidation? on 17:56 - Jan 6 with 964 views | Parlay | Yes darran you are right, we have a much worse side than 2 years ago and Southampton did spend hundreds of million this year. [Post edited 6 Jan 2015 17:57]

Remainder of the season consolidation? on 18:05 - Jan 6 with 931 views | union_jack | Totally agree Dar. It's all very good having ambition, essential in fact. BUT you also have to keep your feet firmly on the ground at the same time which some on this thread are not doing. Let's be sensible about this!!!

Remainder of the season consolidation? on 18:06 - Jan 6 with 924 views | Drizzy | I think you're struggling with the concept of a target. Defined as: "an objective or result towards which efforts are directed." So we're not directing our efforts towards finishing as high as possible in the league? Nonsense. You're being obtuse because it's Parlay. [Post edited 6 Jan 2015 18:06]

Remainder of the season consolidation? on 18:06 - Jan 6 with 922 views | Jackhero | Parlay 1 - 0 Darran Keep to topic Darran, you may post more then. Anyway back on topic .....We should be aiming high, as HJ said about Laudrups attitude, why shouldn't we be aiming high and looking to beat the bigger teams. I also think we will see more of Gomis talent now he gets more game time. So top 6 out of the question........never!

Sad, very sad. P.s. Great couple of posts directly above. Absolutely spot on. [Post edited 6 Jan 2015 18:08]

Remainder of the season consolidation? on 18:16 - Jan 6 with 836 views | londonlisa2001 | Either we are talking targets or what is achievable. Surely our target is to win every time we walk onto the pitch. Whether we sell Bony or not that remains true? Therefore, what is actually being discussed is what is achievable which may (or may not - let's see) change if Bony goes. If we accept that we are discussing what is achievable, then I think that it is unlikely (although not impossible) that we will finish top 6. Given the presence of Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool & Everton that means that we'd finish above 2 of them and also above the other teams that are 'on our level' - Southampton and West Ham for example as 2, maybe Newcastle as well. I think that's a tall order. I would certainly hope though for us to realistically target our best ever finish - that means 8th, (ignoring the old 1st division days) and I would hope for perhaps 8-10 more points than ever before. We should note though, that when we finished 9th, it was a strange year as we had a very average points tally for that position. If we finished top 10 and with above 50 points for the first time, you'd surely accept that to be a good season, particularly if we could have a good run in the FA Cup.

Remainder of the season consolidation? on 18:17 - Jan 6 with 832 views | Parlay | Top 10 now after the top goalscorer in the Prem in 2014 looks to be leaving and yet 3-4 places higher was not even fathomable to become an aim should he have stayed... (even though a handful of points separates them). What a card.

Remainder of the season consolidation? on 18:23 - Jan 6 with 796 views | Parlay | I think if you take the incorrect ref decisions then we should be somewhere in the top 6. If Green had been sent off in the first 10 minutes in our last game and Routledge not incorrectly sent off then that was 3 points all day long. So its not just our short comings that have denied us points like Whatachunt is trying to suggest, some of these lost points have been taken out of our hands.
