... who thinks we had a crap game? We did produce more than Hull, but to be honest, they were even more crappy than us.

Penalty in the end though in my oppinion, good thing we finally got some deserved luck.

Was impressed by Ki and Fabianski, Bony proved he will be forever missed if he goes anywhere. The two central defenders also did well.

Jaz failed miserably in every aspect of the game, Dyer and Routlegde both very anonymous and Jonjo was a hit and miss, he failed very simple passes and yet provided a constant threat, should have scored at least once.

Nice win though, going very happy to bed tonight.

Can never be disappointed by an away win, regardless of the way it's earned Daniel.

It saddens me to see some of the views on here. We should have won easily had we taken our chances but we kept our shape and despite all the changes we won our second away game with three more points in the bag. Well done to all I would say and such a shame we could not take the chances we created. Had we done so then we would have been first on MOTD rather than last.

You said Hull were more crappy than us.

Is this a wind up Dan ?

We won away from home. Hit the post twice. Played some decent football.

7 changes, 3 due to injuries. !!!

Pathetic comments from you and have a feeling you would not hang around if we ever dropped a division or two.

Aye Dan's one of my favourite posters, but some of the views. Crikey! To sum it up; some people are unhappy that we're significantly better than Hull (who've spent bucketloads) with no Bony, Sig, Rangel or Montero. Rightio.

We've played a lot better and lost.

I'll take 3 points away from home and a clean sheet.

Enjoy the win ffs. 3 points nearer to safety and we got them resting a few first teamers who will be fresh for Villa.

Fine by me.

He is right though.

No matter what the circumstances, a win away from home is a great result. When you factor in the seven changes, especially as 4 of them are among our best players, it's even better.

But you can't argue we weren't poor. Hull looked every inch a relegation team. We scored against the run of play and they just crumbled. Looked like a team with no ideas or inspiration.

I'm just glad that the day that 4 of our big players had minor knocks coincided with us playing a team we could hold at arms length with half a reserve team. Will boost confidence and if they are all fit for Villa, no reason we can't get another 3 points.

I'd be quite happy to argue with the view that we were "poor" today. We were nowhere near at our best but that doesn't equate to being "poor", in my opinion.

Other views are, as always, available.

I find this and the previous post disrespectful of both our Defensive work and Fab's two Fab saves, especially from a team that had "no ideas or inspiration", thank god they only had 11 shots on goal then.

I bet the top teams say the same about us when they manage to beat us, usually with the help of certain game officials.

Bang on the money. Just because we didn't win by 2, 3 or 4 doesn't mean we were poor.

Mate, they have 2 points and 2 goals from their last 6 matches. The fact that a team like that had 11 shots against us is nothing to celebrate. The fact that we won is.

I stand by my no ideas or inspiration comment. We held them at arms length fairly comfortably but they didn't even look like trying anything different.

We were very unlucky to have 3 key players unable to take part, even more so with Bony and Rangel only able to start from the bench, but very lucky those injuries co-incided with playing Hull.

You can lose and play well, win and play badly. We were much better against Spurs than we were today.

261 completed passes with 74% success rate

42% overall possession

43% territory

51 passes in attacking third.

Like I said piss poor. Lucky to win due to Hull's abject strikers but grateful for 3 points.

The first time we beat Hull in some 12 yrs, and first time at their stadium and still its a problem.

Unbelievable.

Why is it a problem if we play badly and win?

I play golf. Sometimes you are 120 yards from the green, you line up your 9 iron and let go imagining a beautiful arc in towards the pin with a smidgen of backspin, to leave a simple tap-in. In reality you thin the shot it scuds like rocket 6 inches off the turf, bounces off the bank of the green side bunker and luckily finishes 6 inches from the hole for a simple tap-in. You write par 4 on the card and exclaim "thank God they don't put a picture of the shot on the card".

That win today was the football equivalent. Thank God it you don't get points for style and execution - just for inserting the ball into the net, which we managed once more than they did, Take it, smile and move on. Great 3 points.

When the ball comes into the box, he takes control in a way vorm never could or would.

A staggering acquisition.

This is a top keeper and I'm struggling to see how we ve got him.

Competent performance in my view. Shelvey looked good in the forward midfield role - better than when he sits back. Didn't see much wrong with Jaz Richards performance today. No world beater but didn't do much wrong. Fernandez looked comfortable. I agree Hull were dreadful and look doomed. Would have banked 1 point, 3 is a Christmas bonus.

The last 15 mins, the game was crying out for us to hold the ball as long as possible, just make nothing passes in midfield. Unfortunately, we don't seem to have the ability to do that any more.

Am I the only one? on 19:23 - Dec 20 with 1236 viewsBrynmill_Jack

I find it startling that some posters can't differentiate between the result and the performance.

Absolutely fantastic result, and as documented already on this thread with seven changes.

A few posters have said we didn't get out of third gear and if so why not? If we had we could have put the result to bed a lot earlier. Why only play to 60% capacity when a side like Hull could have sucker punched us with a late equalizer?

Each time I go to Bedd - au........................

We didn't have Leon playing and Carroll had gone off. Much harder to keep the ball without players who constantly make themselves available for an easy pass. Ki, Shelvey and Emnes isn't the ideal midfield for ball retention, but we still held on fairly comfortably

It doesn't matter to me how we play as long as we win, but for some it seems to be a problem. Not sure how many different ways to say it.
