I was at the game (just got back home in central London) and thought our defence was excellent; Jose and Yosh really put a shift in. Up top we were devoid of any ideas and were easily dealt with by average WBA players but it's early days.
Other positives was Nasty Nic's lovelies still selling the programmes, which are now huge very nice looking magazines.
Negatives: the fans were poor today and were largely silent in the second half when they needed to get behind the team.
No beer other than Carlsberg and although where I was in the Kingsland improvements had been made, it's still not possible to have a piss and a beer at half time. Also the new kit is shite and there were numerous grown men who appeared to be wearing saints kit 'dresses'. Seriously, blokes in kits that were round their knees. My mate watched it down the pub & called me after the match. He said that you could hear the groans & claps on broadcast & that the commentator even mentioned it. So maybe it'll come up on MOTD later or on Kammy's show tomo. I hope not, because it doesn't show us in the best light. | |

I travelled 280 mile round trip to get to the game today, and battled with the traffic on the M40 and A34 & M3, finally got there to have to wait 30 minutes to pick up my tickets as I only returned from holiday on the Wednesday, so they couldn't post them in time. Today's match was the worst Saints performance since we moved to St Mary's and as much as I will always follow and Love Southampton FC, I wish I hasn't bothered today as it was simply pathetic. | |

I don't think it was the worst performance since we moved to St Mary's, not even the worst against West Brom. The 3-0 defeat when Lukakau ran rings round Hooiveld was far worse. Our defence looked much more solid today. Admittedly, we offered little up front but, hopefully, we will strengthen the attack before the transfer deadline.. [Post edited 30 Aug 2014 17:29]

We had performances that were worse at home last season. The difference is, that people are angry now where they weren't then. A lot of the players still got a 7/10 today from me. Davis & Pelle in particular were poor and JWP let the game pass him by again. He worries me on days like this. Because he doesn't have the wiry strength or technical ability of a Modric style player & he doesn't have the physical size to protect the ball either. So when he is targeted he just gets swamped. Other times he get his right foot into play and he's the most important player on the pitch. But at the moment he's on about a 1/4 good performance from starts. He needs to bulk up in the gym, work on his touch & be much smarter in finding space if he wants to be a top bracket player. | |

If Click was at the game, he's got a better internet connection on his mobile than I do. I can never text, phone or get 3G inside the stadium for other score. Click has flawless connection though, and managed to send his half time multi-paragraph assessment with no bother.
