"UKRAINE has obliterated one of Vladimir Putin's prized Black Sea submarines in an impressive attack on occupied Crimea.
Kyiv forces said the prized Kilo-class Rostov-on-Don submarine, worth £275 million, was hit in a strike on the Sevastopol port."
"Ukraine's attack on Friday also “significantly damaged” four of Putin’s ultramodern S-400 air defence systems - worth in total around £2 billion.
Kyiv claimed the missile barrage also targeted four vital launches of Russia's "Triumf" air defence system.
The Kilo-class Rostov submarine - used to fire calibre class missiles on Ukraine - had been hit in September 2023, but was then repaired.
Dramatic pictures showed the gaping hole ripped into its side after a barrage of Storm Shadow missiles bypassed air defence systems to blast naval docks in Sevastopol.
The area of fighting seems to be widening to the east of Sudzha in the direction of Belgorod.
"Russian source Rybar confirms that the AFU has presence inside Plekhovo, and was seen in the vicinity of Borki and Spal'noe just east of it. The latter could mean AFU is scaling up activity from the border area south of it as well. Ukrainian DRG groups were noted near Belaya Sloboda further east."
There are also reports that the remaining Russian garrison in the eastern suburbs of Sudzha (the bit they still hold) are surrounded. Long way to go yet but the Russians are on the back foot in Kursk.

Ukraine destroys Putin’s prized £250million submarine ... on 18:42 - Aug 11 with 514 views
🇺🇦 is now confirmed to control at least 320 km² of Kursk Oblast.
A significant grey zone persists in some areas, as further verification is required to confirm reported clashes and assess consolidation behind the known forward elements.

Whatever the truth is (and contro, as ever, knows nothing) it is most certainly not over yet. It might finish very soon or not. Either way contro has not got a clue.
It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring. - Carl Sagan

Ukraine destroys Putin’s prized £250million submarine ... on 02:26 - Aug 12 with 458 views
"On the sixth day of Ukraine’s advance into Kursk Oblast in southern Russia, there’s growing evidence the Ukrainian invasion corps—some or all of up to five 2,000-person brigades plus at least one 400-person independent battalion—plans to stay.
The Ukrainians are digging trenches. Anticipating static warfare along or near the existing front line, the Russians are digging in, too.
That both sides are fortifying their positions doesn’t mean the Ukrainians are done advancing. Nor does it mean the Russians can’t counterattack—and push the Ukrainians back to the border, 10 miles away.
But it does mean that stabilization of the front line—and a long-term Ukrainian occupation of part of Kursk—is on the table."
