Vuvuzelas Banned At St Mary's
Vuvuzelas Banned At St Mary's

The sound of the Vuvuzela was omnipresent at the recent World Cup in South Africa, however you wont be hearing one in St Mary's next season after the club announced that it was banning them and I quote "In the interests of everyones enjoyment"

Opionion will be split on this, whilst there will be those who consider them a nuisance there will be others who think they help generate an atmosphere and to be blunt it would be hard to make a decision either way.

My personal view is that football supporters should be left to their own devices when it comes to supporting their team, after all a Vuvuzela is no more annoying that say the traditional football rattle and i dare say in times gone by they were just as annoying for many supporters.

The time has come for football clubs to start designating the noisy areas of the ground, at St Mary's this has been the Northam and my thoughts are that if a fan in the Northam should want to bring a Vuvuzela, then why not ? it will soon either become a success or die out, but it should be the fans deciding.

Obviously because they are annoying is someone is sat behind you I would agree with a ban in other areas bar the Northam End, but I think in that area of the ground it should be left to the supporters themselves.

I am not going to be contradictory of the club here, they have a hard choice in the matter and for everyone that agrees with them there will be those who dont, I just think they should have given it a chance to see if it really is going to be a problem before deciding what is best to do

What is annoying about them is the continous steady drone. It dispels the rise and fall of the noise level and therefore the excitment levels

What the fook are you talking about nick!?
No self respecting football fan wants anything to do with these monstrosities.
English football fans dont need these gimmicks or mexican waves to create an atmosphere.
I hate them and would hate to see them in our game.
I dare say i may be in a big majority on this one??

St Michael you may well be in a big majority, but the point of the story is that you are right English football fans dont need these gimmicks, but in the same manner, they dont need to be told which gimmicks they need or dont need either
