The Old Lady enter the race for Virgil Van Dijk.
Sunday, 16th Jul 2017 09:46 by Arron Sanders

According to Italian newspaper Tuttosport Juventus are set to turn their attentions to the Dutchman, to replace their Milan bound Leonardo Bonucci. Arron Sanders considers the news.

Bonucci who is set to swap Turin for Milan on the back of a public fallout, with Juventus boss Massimo Allegri towards the end of last season.

Their is an element of shock in Italy that the move actually appears to be going ahead, with the Italian muted as one of the best defenders in world football.

However it appears Juventus have their eye on Saints' Van Dijk as a potential replacement, and if a move was to go ahead the Dutchman would have big boots to fill in Turin.

Van Dijk's potential to become a leading central defender in world football, is well know to clubs across the continent and with Saints reluctant to sell to Premier League rivals Liverpool, a deal with the Serie A club would sense if they are to sell the player.

However any deal to sell Van Dijk would against the words of Vice Chairman Les Reed, who has stated the player is not for sale this summer although we have heard these words before and the player has still left the club.

Van Dijk is reported to have said he only wants to leave for Liverpool but with a potential opportunity to play Champions league football, and challenge for titles in Italy on offer he could be persuaded to make the move to the Serie A champions.

And any sell would re coup Saints anywhere between £60-70 million the club, and would have both the time and money to replace and invest further in the first team squad.

Would you like to see Van Dijk join Juventus over Liverpool if he is to be sold this summer? Or do you think the club will be able to keep hold of him for another season?

If he has to go, this is a preferable option, if only to see the Meltdown in Scouseland and all the bile they'd be spouting about us It would be a complete spazz fest :-)
But do Italian Clubs pay out such big amounts of dosh?

Saw this on Clubcall a couple of days ago- was tempted to forward it to Klippity Klopp, hoping it might wipe that stupid smug look off of his face. Personally, don't want VVD to go anywhere, but to see him go to Juve instead of Scouseland would be partial compensation.
