Clearing The Christmas Hangovers

Crewe v Swansea City - Match Preview

From A Swansea Perspective

Saturday's game at the Liberty was hugely disappointing despite saving a point at the last minute. And with Crewe and Huddersfield on the road in the next few days, its an unattractive Christmas fixture list that the computer has thrown us out this time around. Unless of course we win both games in which case it will be the best Christmas ever.

Team News

Andy Robinson is back again from suspension and will come into the reckoning for what will otherwise be the same selection of players that we had available for Saturday. Will Bayo's goal be enough to see him called into the starting line up?

Crewe manager Dario Gradi has close to a clean bill of health for the home game against Swansea.

Striker Rodney Jack is still out (knee) and midfielders Ryan Lowe (groin) and Lee Bell (foot) are on the sidelines but Gradi reports no other injuries.

Form Guides

There is never a shortage of goals at Crewe this season with the last six games at Gresty Road producing 28 goals with 15 of them in favour of the home side who have lost 2 of those fixtures.

The two sides are up there within the leading scorers in the division so there should be goals in the game whilst Crewe (8 pts) are just behind Swansea (9) in total form over the last six games.

Crewe lie 15th in the table compared to Swansea's 5th.

What The Bookies Say

Crewe can be backed at 13/10 for this game - marginally ahead of Swansea at 7/4 and the draw at 9/4

For what must be the first time this season, Lee Trundle starts as only co-favourite to score first goal - he shares odds of 5/1 with Luke Varney and Nicky Maynard for the home side. Fallon can be backed at 13/2 with Bayo and Robbo both in at 7/1. Leon Britton at 14/1 or Dennis Lawrence at 33/1 could provide a nice pay day if they score first.

I cant help thinking draw for this game so Lee Trundle to score first in a 2-2 draw at 60/1 may be worth a mince pie or two.

What Do The Fans Think?

Just 26 predictions are in at the time of writing and 13 of them back an away win with 9 saying draw for the trip. Trundle (10) heads the list for first goalscorer ahead of Fallon (6)

Scoring wise there aren't really enough in to generate a pattern but 2-1 Swansea is again the choice of more than any other score with 7 calls.

JackArmy.net Predicts

I've said it once and I will say it again this one just smacks of a draw. And with the goals rattling in at Gresty Road the travelling Jack Army are to be treated to a four goal share.
