http://www.thefa.com/News/governance/2013/jun/doncaster-belles-appeal-statement.
The FA release a statement following a hearing in front of an Independent Appeals Panel

Following a hearing this week in front of an Independent Appeals Panel, The FA can confirm that Doncaster Rovers Belles FC has been unsuccessful in its appeal to retain its place in FA WSL1 following a decision not to offer the club a licence to compete in the top domestic women's league from the 2014 season onwards.

The FA would also like to confirm that the licence offer to compete in The FA WSL2 next season is still open to the club, subject to licence criteria that still needs to be met.

The decision by the selection panel not to offer the club an FA WSL1 license was due primarily to them being unable to satisfactorily meet minimum facility requirements, alongside further concerns on their commercial and marketing strategies.

We look forward to continue working with Doncaster Rovers Belles FC and all our FA WSL clubs, who play a vital role alongside us in our commitment to continue to develop and build the women’s game in England.

The FA will now take time to fully consider the written reasons for the outcome, as outlined today by the Appeals Panel, before commenting any further.

Although its obviously a decision made to catapult man city into the league at the expense of one of women's footballs pioneers, I find it hard to get worked up by anything to do with women's football. There BBC try to champion it at every opportunity but the truth is no one is that interested

i haven't particularly watched a lot of women's football myself.
But the point is that football should be measured by the competitive success on the field, not who's bank balance is biggest.
I can't see their argument of facilities being a major factor, considering the attendances.
what is there to stop this happening in the men's game, if you are only interested in that?
After all it is the same governing body. How would you like it if QPR were kicked out of top flight football, by a franchise who had 60000 stadium?

Obviously I wouldn't but it would be far less likely to happen at the top of the men's game in such a blatant example like you give above as there would be real opposition. However, I can remember numerous times men's teams being denied access to leagues due to facilities, especially in Scotland with falkirk a few years ago. It's also why Wimbledon were so vulnerable as they had a small fan base. Ultimately women's football has a very small following. This is yet another attempt to drum up support so they want the teams affiliated with big prem teams in there. It's wrong, I agree

okay,
just think it's disgusting and another example of money talking.
And why i am falling out of love with the game.
So think they need our support, to remind those who run the game what is important

There is very little left to sell, but whatever is left the FA will sell.

Completely agree. I've very little interest in women's football but equally I've little interest in clubs other than QPR, that doesn't mean that its OK for the FA to behave in a blatantly unjust manner to turn a few quid, whether or not QPR are affected. In the case of Doncaster Belles, a lot of people must have put in a lot of work to make them into a successful team and fly the flag for women's football when the FA frankly weren't interested or downright obstructive; as soon as women's football looks like it might be a bit of a money spinner the FA have knifed them in the back

If you know your history you'll know QPR were denied entry to the 2nd Division when it was created to allow in Spurs, who had finished well below us in the Southern League, in a similar money-grabbing move.

Well, as Wenger would have said, sometimes 7th place is a trophy.

It was probably the very same people in charge at the F.A. then aswell.

Good point. The possibility that the FA is run by the undead had not previously occurred to me, but now you mention it, its all too obvious.
