Well, erm, in no particular order.

1. Chair looked energetic when he came on.

2. If we'd scored in that little spell at the start of the second half, well..it would have been better.

3. Paul Smyth was industrious.

4. I felt like we tried after halftime.

Nice to see a match in the company of enthusiastic RRs fans! A treat for me even with the result. Hope everyone gets home safely - there was a lot of fog when we left Swansea.

Doesn't help losing yet another key CB so close to kick off.

Never knowingly right.

The first half was truly appalling, and like watching a practice match.

However, we started the game with two rusty centre backs, one recovering from injury, so it wasn't a huge suprise to see us get cut apart like that.

The learning we MUST take away, is to ensure we do not set up the team, nor mentally position ourselves as we did in that first half, and the ones against Bristol City and Oxford. I don't know why it happens, because we have played well in other games, but that meek surrending of the ball, position, and control without a meaningful press will get us walloped. More importantly, it shaves weeks off my life every time we play like that!

I did, thanks, mate. It wasn't the game we hoped for, but I'd prepared my boy with the not-since-1967 stat, and we were there for the win last season.
Also, our support was great. No complaints. No regrets.

Seconded, but I'm sure all the usual suspects will still tell you - as indeed some of them are tonight - MC is doing a wonderful job 'with the hand he's been dealt'. They probably blame Nourry for how he tactically sets up as well.

If you think Marti is the problem with this club right now then I don't know what to tell you. He got it wrong today, he's got it wrong many times this year. But he's also had many occasions where he has got us playing above our ability level too. He's doing more good than bad. This idea that seems to be permeating our society where everyone or everything has to be in the "he's the best ever" or "he's the worst ever" bucket is crazy to me.

Marti is a good manager. He's done more good than bad, if he wasn't here for one reason or another we'd be much more likely to get someone worse than someone better. On that basis, we should be happy he's here and be backing him. Don't think it has to be more complicated than that?

I think you've nailed it in the second sentence. If you replace Morrison (unbeaten in however many) and Cook (fronting a Richard Dunne tribute band) with Clarke Salter ("they may take our lives, but they'll never take our freedom!") and Morgan Fox (look into my eyes, look into my eyes, the eyes, the eyes, not around the eyes, don't look around my eyes, look into my eyes, you're under) then bad things will happen. Even made Nardi look shìt today and I elected him PotY about 2 months ago.

I didn't say, and don't think, Marti is 'the problem' with the club (I think all our problems, like most problems, have more than one cause), so please stop caricaturing what I do say! For the record, and it seems I have to keep repeating it, I think he is also responsible for the squad he's been a key part of building, as well as the playing style and tactical set-up etc. If he gets credit for performances and results like Watford, Norwich, and Preston etc., which he and the team deserved, serious questions need to be asked of him and them after dire showings like Bristol City, the Oxford first half, and once again today. The fact that, because of some people's fear of Nourryvirus, this sensible plea for sensible balance goes on being seen as somehow inflammatory IS a problem, however.

I don't think your opinions are inflammatory, but I do think that the tone you convey them with is inflammatory and bordering on condescension.

Your original post and this reply being cases in point.

We have had a good unbeaten run since the last international break, it had to come to end, they always do with the Rangers. Really poor first half performance, but more solid in the 2nd. The real challenge will be if we can avoid going on a downward spiral and a losing run like this time last year. Personally think the Watford and Luton home games are the ones we need to get positive results in, will be suprised if we do anything at Norwich they will be all over us.

So a straight forward and good thread gets hijacked by a little dig at people with different opinions. Then when it's pointed out it's the fault of others and we get treated to the walking thesaurus. For someone with a love of words it's incredible how often you tell them they misunderstand what you are trying to say but they all come away with the same assumption. I now look forward to being insulted and being told what an idiot I am in no less than 500 words.

I gave a view and nothing more than a passing sarcastic opinion about posters who say the same thing time and time again without evidence about Nourry, which is actually quite tame compared to what other non-vilified and/or idealised writers on this board publish. I wasn't 'hijacking' anything - I've as much right to write here as you do. However, I have regularly received completely unprovoked abuse on 'perfectly good' threads of my own, if you care to go back and read a few of them. Meanwhile, you complain I regularly insult others when what I regularly do is in fact to offer up fiercely contested views and supported argument on all things QPR - while insulting/dehumanising me yourself (as a 'walking thesaurus' now) to add to the many abuses I receive here across the lexical spectrum, irrespective of what I say.

Sure I can be tart, fractious and trenchant, but just because I critique the simplistic/black and white groupthink consensus that Nourry is the devil's spawn and Marti can do no wrong, while reflecting others' vindictiveness back to them, I get treated by a few here as some kind of online punchbag. It's just pathetic.

I agree.

Marti himself doesn't like kneejerk responses, whether that's getting carried away with imminent promotion when we win or throwing in the towel when we lose.

I realise I'm prone to be overly optimistic and am trying to curb that with a bit of realism . But FFS these injuries would affect most squads in the Championship. Just look what's happened to Man City with their embarrassment of riches with just a couple of players having past their best.

We can't afford to go on another terrible run but this only one match.

I watched on the stream, and only with half an eye as it was so poor I ended up catching up on some work at the same time. Looked like the Morrison injury close to KO really derailed the game plan. As others had said we just couldn't move the ball due to the big gaps between defence and rest of the team. It's a real shame as it looked like we'd hit a decent system against Preston, and will need to reorganize again over the next few games. This season is really turning into a story about how well we manage a never ending injury crisis.

From Marti - '“We have to move on. I prefer to lose one game 3-0 than three games 1- and hopefully today is just a bad game..." (West London Sport)

I'm with him there. Not a fan of getting thumped, but I'd rather it was a one-off than a trend. Yesterday was just awful but the second half was an improvement and showed that we can change things even with a weakened First XI.

Same article says that Morrison is a few weeks away. We're stuck with that back line (if they can keep it running). Remember that time we ended up with Kakay and Gubbins...? Injuries are not our friends.

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

I’m not a footballer, a manager, a pundit, an ITK or a CEO - just a simple fan that has watched, supported and occasionally celebrated QPR for several decades.

I can understand that disruptive changes took place close to kick off but I seriously hope that we don’t plan to start with the same back line for the next game. Maybe it will look more like the back four at the end of the game than the four that started it with Dunne and JCS in the centre providing a better balance. Why it took so long to adjust the defence however is beyond me because it was painful to watch the dysfunction and imbalance.

What was even less explicable was the lack of any system (and associated possession) ahead of the defence because that wasn’t really changed in terms of personnel at all.

Maybe Swansea were simply better, had a better plan and/or ate/drank less over Xmas. They were certainly good value for their 3 points in the first half and at times during the game, it felt and looked like they had more players on the pitch because they passed around us so easily.

That’s the part that seems the hardest to explain because we’d seemingly managed to find a system and shape that prevented other teams from doing that when we didn’t have the ball previously.

Hoping it was a mental/physical blip that can be corrected but time is not our friend between these games and Norwich will be looking at revenge so you can bet they should have a better game plan than last time.

Maybe the lack of system was a cunning plan to befuddle and lull them into a false sense of security. It befuddled me at times but that’s not too difficult, as my dogs will confirm.

‘I gave a view and nothing more than a passing sarcastic opinion about posters who say the same thing time and time again without evidence about Nourry’

As an editor and writer, I assume that you understand the power of written words and that sarcasm can sometimes come across much more powerfully when used in text and there’s no tone of voice or body language to help balance it out.

There’s also little context applied when comments get read in isolation (multi-thread memory is not always available) so sometimes we can collectively experience potential overreaction.

Perhaps you can help us out with your understanding and compelling use of the English language so that we argue less and maybe spend more time helping and supporting each other when results don’t go well.

Having missed the first half (thankfully) I can only express my opinions based on the 2nd half performance when Swansea had effectively won the game and looked happy to just play the ball about with us happy to sit back and let them .
I would like to think marti told them at half time that the games gone and just keep it tight and don’t concede any more as we have another big game on Saturday cos if that was our effort to get back in the game … Jesus Christ!
What’s more concerning for me is if we were as bad as everyone is telling me and the stats confirm, then why didn’t mc change something mid first half if it is so obvious to everyone else ?
All seems a bit bonus game mode , god help us against a Norwich team baying for blood on Saturday

Well we were poor, marginally better second half but Swansea on the day were brilliant. Done their homework, used the width and gave our full backs a torrid time. Hardly missed a pass. Adapted well to every tactical change by us and bossed the game throughout.
Be disappointed with our non performance but credit where it's due.

We shouldn't have 2 left sided CBs, especially when JCS and Fox are SO 1 footed.
Assuming no Morrison, play Dunne and JCS at CB, Ashby at RB and either Fox or Paal at LB.

It is very easy to pick the team after the event..........your selection would not have been mine for the back 4 either!!!! It wasn't just the back 4 that was the issue(s).
