New MLS time wasting rules on 17:05 - Feb 28 with 1631 views | stowmarketrange | I think that having 5 subs available to make just slows the game down too much anyway. What was wrong with 3? The big clubs benefit from having more opportunities to bring on similar quality players so it will never revert back to what it was.It probably won’t be long before they tell us that 5 isn’t enough and they need 7.
New MLS time wasting rules on 17:35 - Feb 28 with 1562 views | Juzzie | Exemptions will be abused i.e. 'head injury' - Player will fake it, ref can't take the chance it's not genuine. 'Injured' player gives his team mates time to re-group etc.
New MLS time wasting rules on 18:07 - Feb 28 with 1464 views | PlanetHonneywood | In rugby, save when its serious, players are treated on the pitch while the game goes on around them. Two things, of course it can be done in football, and rugby players do not roll around pretending to be shot! Secondly, once a team indicate a player is to be subbed, continue playing, however, the player cannot touch or interfere with play or face being carded. The player to come on can only do so once their team mate is off the field. Thus, the subbed player needs to get off quickly. Of course if the subbing team seek to delay play to allow the substitution, cards for time wasting. Or, just stop the clock! Often thought better timekeeping would be an easier option.

A lot of time wasting is just done to disrupt play,so simply stopping the clock won’t stop it completely.Just breaking up play is the cheating teams reason for doing it.
New MLS time wasting rules on 20:22 - Feb 28 with 1242 views | Hoopsie | Why must play be stopped to introduce a substitution? In the days of yore, there was no subs. Then one substitution was allowed, I can understand the sub announcement when players got on and off. But with 5 subs allowed now, that’s surely becoming unnecessary? Play should just go on whilst the substitution is being made, the fourth official could see to that with the signal from the referee. Never understood the play acting in football, and not rugby. Rugby a gentleman’s game and football played by thugs, actors and fakers?

A substitute can only come on when play is stopped.Subs being made during play is open to abuse by canny managers who suddenly see a chance to exploit it.But the rule was changed so that a player is supposed to leave by the nearest part of the pitch in order to stop players walking across from the farthest part of the pitch to waste time.It is rarely enforced though.

Totally agree, wtf can’t a 4/5th official who’s not on the pitch do it? Makes cheating more difficult I suppose
