I wonder if the final being played at the Aviva is part of the deal. [Post edited 7 Feb 2022 12:55]

I think to deny us the chance to host a tournament based on that one game is a bit short sighted (of UEFA/FIFA, not you!) The single biggest problem that day was that the attendance was limited to 60k so you had 200k people all thinking "'ere, there's 30k empty seats, I'll try and blag getting in". I'm really not sure what difference 60,000 people all crammed in on buses, the underground, walking to the ground, queuing up for the turnstiles then going to the toilets, getting food and drink etc would make compared to 90,000. The warning signs were there in the quarters and semi so if they had sold all 90,000 tickets for the final I'm absolutely certain the troubles that day would not have happened. It was a one-off situation caused by the circumstances of the time. [Post edited 7 Feb 2022 14:39]

Euro 2028 on 15:18 - Feb 7 with 2862 views | BAWHoops | They could of course avoid this for 2028 by having the final in Cardiff... It will be interesting to see which grounds they would use as I'm sure they'd like to spread the thing round the whole of UK & Ireland Wembley, Spurs, St. Mary's, Stadium MK, Villa Park, Old Trafford, Anfield, St James' Park, Hamden, Celtic Park, Aviva, Cardiff Millenium You'd imagine they would stick QF's at Wembley, Celtic Park, Cardiff, OT. Semi's at Wembley and Hamden. Final at Cardiff

Would love to see it . Apparently Casement park, the GAA ground would possibly be Norn Irons main ground as Windsor doesn't come up to scratch capacity wise. Be interesting to see how thier fans opinions on that.

Final order would be - Wembley Cardiff Glasgow Belfast Aviva isn't the best of stadiums and allocation is lower, I doubt it would even have a semi final.

Belfast? Windsor Park only holds 22k. Does anybody know why the Aviva was only built to 50k? You've have thought with the Rugby team also using it, it would have been larger.

Apparently planning permission wasn't granted for behind one of the goal ends. It's capacity must be costing them thousands if not millions in lost revenue. The way the rugby lads are playing, they could quiet put another 30,000 each home game. I'm sure Brian could have more info on the low capacity.

It’s a really cramped site, hemmed in between a railway and a river. It’s also in a smart part of Dublin so it would cost a fortune to expand it. Croke Park would be a better choice, but the terrace would have to go.

Temporary seating have been used on The Hill for soccer and rugby games before. Reduces the capacity down to about 72,000
