| Forum Thread | Two thoughts/queries re Swansea at 10:51 28 Dec 2024
1 After the Milwall horror show, twelve months ago, Kakay and Dozzell never saw the light of day for the QPR first team again. Given our current injury woes, will Marti be able to able to do anything similar after the Swansea debacle? The likes of Paal and Fox are obvious targets, but like I say, defenders are in short supply in the moment - perhaps it depends on the window? 2 When Paal replaced Ashby at half-time v BC, things improved significantly down the left hand side. This is according to people on here who were at the game. When Ashby replaced Paal at half-time v Swansea, things improved significantly, again according to eye-witnesses. So how does that work? Is it an actual improvement, or is it a perception by those watching based on how dire the first half performances by the incumbent was? Or is it the fact that Chair improved the whole situation down the left when replacing Saito? |

Stick him up front. 6'5". Technically good. Doesn't have to tackle. Might win a pen or two (which he IS good at taking) Can't be any worse than Celar. Might be the next Crouchy. |

then two come along together. Obviously a significant amount of time on the training pitch has been spent tightening up, which is now paying dividends. As I recall, this was the first step Marti took last season too, cutting down on our concession from corners and gradually from general play. I suppose he might not have expected to go back to basics again, but clearly he has. More gratifying today, was that (a) it was achieved without JCS and (b) it was not a 'backs to the wall' defensive display like last week. Of course there is a frustration that we could not beat 10 men for the second tie this season. But for me there is a world of difference between not being able to put away an average Plymouth side and a Sunderland team flying high at the top of the table. Unfortunately we are missing Frey big time (albeit a slightly improved showing from Celar) Yes Marti could have been braver today with his attacking options, but I am not overly concerned as, I feel it may be a return to his more pragmatic approach, which dug us out of trouble last season. It's a solid point today, two solid points against against two genuine promotion chasers. I'll be quite happy with two more in the next two. Baby steps in the right direction I feel. |
| Forum Thread | No disrespect but... Sunderland match threað at 14:46 2 Nov 2024
SAFCin peace seems like a reasonable bloke with well-balanced views, but sorry not having a supporter from another club start our match thread. We have feck all left without losing that. So dodgy lineup, no JcS again! And Kaito on the bench along with Shephard. But no point starting a match thread and being negative. So with Clive's November optimism still ringing in my ears - 1-0 Smyth to score. Cmon you Rrrrŕrsss [Post edited 2 Nov 15:58]

| Forum Thread | International Break at 10:47 8 Oct 2024
Well if the last International break came at just the wrong time after Luton, this one could not come fast enough. We have two weeks now to sort out our malaise, get Chair up to full speed - hopefully get JCS back on the pitch (quite worried about this one as it seems to have coincided with the departure of our fitness coach) and Colback also. We have a nice run of games coming up, with a fully fit squad we should see exactly what we are about by the end of November. If we are still occupying a place in the bottom three by then, then it is time to become seriously concerned. |

Only one point from our spiritual home of 16th, I know, but certainly not the start we envisioned . 4-0 shellacking of Leeds seems a lifetime ago. Hopefully Chair's return to full fitness, will provide us with the spark we need to get moving in the right direction. |
