A week or so to do what mate? He has a year to do whatever he wants, unless you really think they will pay him off?

Steve Cooper will be given an ultimatum today. Stay and do your job - or go ! on 08:15 - Jun 2 by monmouth | Well that would be a waste of breath. Unless the club sacks him and compensates him, he can stay and talk to whatever other club he likes for the next year until he finds one stupid enough to employ him and pay an increasingly lower amount of compensation as time passes. Just because he can’t find such a stupid club today isn’t going to make him walk away or ‘stay and do his job’ and stop looking. Barring a miracle of another club believing the false myths about him, we’re stuck with the gormless coward for at least another year. |

Steve Cooper will be given an ultimatum today. Stay and do your job - or go ! on 14:00 - Jun 2 by Dr_Parnassus | From a club perspective, he simply has to stay. Two successive play off seasons each one topping the one prior. Clear progression in results even though there is clear regression in the funding the club is getting, the results are the opposite to the trend we should be seeing. Some clearly have dug themselves into a hole with him however and will never back down regardless of what we achieve, as we have seen this season. It will be up to him however and I wouldn’t blame him for walking at all. Completely thankless task to manage Swansea currently as the next manager will find out fairly swiftly. |
The voice of reason, amongst a sea of fickle despair. (Although disagree re your last point Dr. It's only a thankless task wrt the few shouty grumpy ol' men who drag down the forum.) 2 playoffs in succession. This year the playoff final. Against the league's golden boot, and us with no out and out striker. Against all the odds. The management team and our top players have earned the right to choose. And it's a no brainer. It's a pity that those that shout loudest here seem to have no clue what the next best alternative is, ever. All doom n gloom, always.

I tend to agree, he will need time to decide where he wants to go, which is his prerogative. The next two weeks are a break from the club and football in general for most clubs. For me, it isn’t that crucial. And if he and his new agent haven’t already agreed a deal, which I think they have, then the usual negotiations, desk clearing, contract signing etc needs to take place. I still think it’s a lottery for the Palace job but WBA is still there. The club are doing him a favour by hurrying him along to a decision, if he ponders any more than he has he will still be with us next week 😂

Well that is true. HOOF. That’s Cooperwang. This bit is breathtaking. Just goes to show that we live in a fact free world and people spout any old tripe without realising they are pig ignorant. “Plays excellent football, been in charge of England at youth level when they were successful, so he’s got a lot of contacts and plays the right way.”

Steve Cooper will be given an ultimatum today. Stay and do your job - or go ! on 17:22 - Jun 3 with 1448 views | ReslovenSwan1 | Managers like players develop in time. Cooper is a rookie mnager and as such has concentrated on having a solid defence and do not give too many games away cheaply. If I was the chairman i woud accept the Cooper has done a solid job and bult a foundation but I would expect him to develop himself further. I would not accept his mantra of "we do what we do and will not change". At 0-2 v Brentford we all pretty much knew the game was over based on past Cooper games. Fulton knew it too and his frustrations overspilled. There was no going direct to the big man. There was no bring on the maverick like Celina for example. There was nothing but grinding hopelessness with athletic wingback the main hope. It was 'one paced'. Slow steady build ups. Brentford first goal was all that Swansea are not. A precise pass into space at pace creating doubt and chaos and a penalty. Somewhat unpredicatble. If Ollie Cooper has anything about him why was he not brught on. He may speak freely with the chairman and declare this style is forced him and this is the best that can be done on a budget. He may have plans for the new season with more instinctive players then Korey Smith (6 goals in a 14 year carreer) and Fulton and Grimes who generally do not do one touch and provide little goal threat, movement and sharp crisp passing. In view of the improvement that need to be made it would be reasonable to ask what training improvement does Cooper intend making to facilitte this development and change and what type of players are required to activate the changes. More of the same with minor staff changes will not do. The foundation is built now for attacking development and some footballing architecture and flair.

Steve Cooper will be given an ultimatum today. Stay and do your job - or go ! on 15:38 - Jun 2 by Joe_bradshaw | I enjoyed watching Potter's team fail to get promoted far more than I have watching Cooper's team fail to get promoted. A return to a pass and move style is more important to me than a few more points and no promotion either way. Cooper's points return is remarkably high for virtually every other statistic about our games which is credit to him but I'm bored to tears. |
Forget the stats . Points say we failed to get enough. We also failed second year running in play offs . Yep,Steve learned alright

Cooper very much hasn't built a foundation. We had loan players. That's not building that's renting. Ollie Cooper, his not coming on might just as easily prove the manager didn't have a clue. After all Hourihane stayed on when he was doing less than nothing. There is no foundation for attacking development because we do not have the creative players we need. Ollie may prove me wrong obviously. Until we see a retained list we haven't a clue what kind of foundation we do have.

Many academy coaches with all the tickets have failed spectacularly. Cooper like Sousa has built a foundation. Going into the championship and maintaining the cibs position has to be classed a sucessful. The loan player Cooper brought have been ellite. The trouble with criticism on forums is that it becomes too polarised. I do not want to watch dull football but Swansea can go to an enregetic Barnsley team and win pretty comfortably. (Goalkeeper) Bidwell Cabango Bennett Roberts Grimes Fulton Smith Dhanda Lowe (Striker) Subs Manning B Cooper, O Cooper, Whittacker, Garrick Cullen. 15 players all with game time under their belt apart from Cooper O all under contract no loans. This is a foundation. It is solid but not exciting lacking both flair and pace. Benda will come in in goal perhaps Joseph up front. Two elite loans will be required to freshen thing up in midfield. Chelsea will have liked the development of Guehi who is singing the praises of Swansea and will report back positively to Chelsea direct from the horses mouth.

Steve Cooper will be given an ultimatum today. Stay and do your job - or go ! on 17:20 - Jun 2 by Dr_Parnassus | I disagree. You don’t win consistently by playing badly, what you may be describing is winning in a manner which you dislike. Sadly winning isn’t easy, especially with such limited resources, and at this point any form of consistent winning is wholly desirable. Under Potter many thought we were playing good football and didn’t get a sniff of the playoffs, this with the likes of Dan James, Olly McBurnie, Joe Rodon et al. I would suggest that playing attractive football and failing to make the playoffs would cause far more dissatisfaction amongst the fan base than playing effective football and having preferential results and achieving playoffs. If it was easy to play attractive football and get consistent results, then everyone would. I do find it quite amazing that people genuinely believe a new manager will be able to achieve such a feat when so many have failed to do so previously. Only Brendan Rodgers has managed to get us winning consistently at this level and winning enough points to challenge for promotion.... He is arguably one of the best managers in Europe. |
Absolutely... | | | |
