Radioactive waste burial 20:56 - Feb 6 with 2557 views | Private_Partz | Cardiff has had some non dangerous waste dumped off its coastline. Now for the really dangerous stuff that needs to be dumped..... Two places in Wales are hosting the discussions. Llandudno and Swansea!! WAG have said they are not against it provided the areas concerned do not object. Is someone taking the p!ss?? I am really considering starting an Independance For Swansea Party. Yeah I saw it on Twitter as well. Why was I first one you thought of when they mention dangerous radioactive waste?? Only joking. Seriously though I wish I did not feel inclined to do posts like this but it just seems they are queuing up to kick Swansea in the balls and our esteemed local politicians seem to do eff all about it.

I heard about this in work today. It's only the consultation being held in Swansea, that doesn't mean Swansea is being considered for waste burial. Similar are being held in other big cities including London. The films on their website seem to rule out most of Wales because of former quarrying and mining which may be needed to be reactivated in the future and disturb the waste. There were other reasons making it unsuitable too, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Hope you are right and I realise we are only hosting. Two things though. If a Conference is up for grabs then Cardiff normally gets it. Secondly. If Wales is a non starter then why hold two consultations there and in a seaside town and city. Watch the b@stards like a hawk or it will be on us before we know it. Just like the non dangerous stuff was dumped off Cardiff Bay before Neil McEvoy knew anything about it. I mention him as one of the very few AMs that seem to look out for their constituents. Bloody Cardiff supporter as well ;-) [Post edited 6 Feb 2019 21:29]

Yes, but they would have to build the same amount of turbines again as they have already built As of December last year Welsh renewables generate electricity equivalent to 48% of Wales consumption

Does anyone really think they are going to be able to do this next to the UK's first area of outstanding natural beauty? Surely that goes against the whole protected area concept? Not aimed at you obviously PP just a general question.

You would think that but Swansea has been shafted on so many occasions, and at so many different levels, then I will have concerns until the final decision is made.

Post Brexit the Tories will do what they want. No EU environmental laws to consider. They gave the £13.8m ferry contract to their mates ... who had no ferries ! You can be sure it wont be near Tory voters. IndyWales is our only hope. Feck London Rule.

The welsh government are fully supportive of the dumping of this waste. They signed it off.
