Keith Hill Thanks Fans For Their Support At Southend 11:21 - Dec 23 with 2975 viewssuffolkdale

As one of the 111, I echo that feeling. I wasn't certainly one of the most vocal but there was a group of lads who sang their hearts out before, during and after the game - they were magnificent and made more noise than the whole of the Southend crowd!
A poster said it reminded him of the Peterborough away experience last year and that is true - it was one of those days when the miles, time and money we spend on supporting the Dale all becomes worthwhile. Well done Keith for recognising and thanking the supporters!

I echo your comments Suffolk. The 20 or so singers sounded like 200, and did not stop all game.

As my dad said don’t expect the same on Boxing Day as they will be hoarse for a week.

Reminded me of the support at Orient when we won with 10 men, but yesterday there were fewer exercising their lungs.

Well done boys you did the club proud and created a great atmosphere for the rest of us.

Really good interview on the official site. Praise for the players and the fans. Also explains the reasoning behind the Rafferty substitution. We'll worth a read.

What was the reasoning please?........Did Kosi do well, scoring 6.5 on the player ratings.

Pity Raff missed that early chance......rush of blood jobby?

He pointed out that Southend were targeting Rafferty with long diagonal balls and so they brought Kosi on because he's stronger in the air. Wasn't at the game so can't say how well it worked. It does show though that there is reasoning behind decisions that as fans we might easily miss.

Kosi played well and that tactic from Southend was less in evidence. In fairness so did Joe and if anything him as an attacking force was most in evidence- hence the first half miss. He clearly learned however as in the second half he had a similar chance which hit really well along the turf but this time a defender got in a good block. If he had done the same in the first half there were no defenders..........

Raff is a steady player and often gets afforded plenty of space.....if he could just improve his crossing a bit he might have better dividends.

He scored a cracking goal in the pre-season friendlies very similar to his golden chance yesterday.

Come on Raff lad ...it's good to see you have a pop!
