Martin Braithwaite 23:55 - Dec 19 with 4931 views | omarjack | Apparently we're into bringing this fellow from Boro, I remember him playing for Denmark in the world cup, kind of slow but decent end product from what I recall, he isn't getting much play time behind Assombalonga so Pulis is willing to to let him go on loan. The problem? His wages are certainly too high for us, he's reportedly the highest paid Boro player (around 40k/wk) and Boro will be expecting all the wages to be paid in full so it's not likely that the move will be sanctioned. But still, it seems like a serious link. He hasn't really lit the league on fire or anything, but I'd say he'd be a sure enough striker option to have, he'd cost around 1 m for half a season though, too steep perhaps?

SWANSEA. Shock interest in Braithwaite at MIDDLESBROUGH. Could only afford a loan. Even then need couple of big hitters out.

I bet none of todays pro footballers will need to find another job when they stop playing. My postman is one Gary Emmanuel......just imagine Jordan Ayew having to walk the strrets on a rainy day......he couldnt be asked to get out of bed to go training! I blame the clubs though.....all chairmen should have stood up to the greedy agents!!! Though it is said of course one Brian CLough used to throw brown envelopes around alledgedly

Where should the money go if not players? Club executives or Sky keep it?

HOw about investing in clubs infrastructures, stadiums, training and development facilities. We as a club benifited from the SKy revenue before we burst our wages control policy...now look where we ended up....wage bill almost the size of our income stream. I am not saying not to pay players but these days they are over rewarded as a consequence of the TV money ,greedy agents and chairmen who want to succeed in coompetions to receive even more income and so it goes on

Didn't we do that rather well? A brand spanking new facility up Fairwood, and a lovely youth setup down by the river. It's the ordinary workers behind the scenes I feel sorry for. All this cash flying around to the agents, players, directors and the poor buggers in finance, etc, get a pittance and by the sounds of it are not treated especially well (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I've only heard a couple of grumbles from workers there).

And a lot of people complained about how much we spent on that. Waste of money that should have gone to buy another Sam Clucas or Borja Baston.

Yeah, I don't think we got the balance wrong. Just wasted the money that we did have for players, especially later on. Criticism for not expanding the ground as soon as we were promoted is justified in hindsight, but that was complicated by us not owning it. Other clubs in similar situation have managed to do so though.

They were always going to sell if they had a bid. Similar to the situation we was in with the Ayew’s. [Post edited 28 Dec 2018 11:30]
