Why are we giving our only (partially) fit striker the go ahead to play for Scotland when he’s currently got a foot problem? I know he’s supposedly fit for Sat but surely we are street wise enough to give him recovery time in the international break.

Bit of international football will put him in the shop window see.

More caps may also add a few bob to his market value.

Because we should never stop our international players from representing their country. It’s counter productive and again a short term thought. The impact that could have on future players coming here would be awful.

I find that a bizarre post, and suspect it is calculated to provoke negative comment. How many clubs let a player go on international duty with a broken bone in his foot? And he is our only fit senior specialist striker.

He won't be playing then. Being part of the squad will be a good morale boost for him.

Considering what Alfie said this week about being encouraged to leave Championship Swansea if he wanted to represent England, we really can't afford to discourage any of our players from any international opportunities they get.

Truth is, WE should be the ones resting our partially-fit striker. But we're too ****ing cheap to purchase decent cover for him. If he gets hurt against Millwall, it's going to make us look really bad.

You can find it whatever you like. It’s the truth.

If he isn’t fit to play then he won’t play, that simple. An injured striker is no good to Scotland either, they have other options.

He wants to be part of the squad so we have to let him go. We are Swansea not Real Madrid.

If we lean on him not to go with Scotland but he plays for us against Millwall, Scotland could envoke that rule whereby he won't be able to play for us in our next game. So it's not as simple as not letting him go.

In normal times I would fully agree with you. However we have to manage his game time in a sensible manner. If we had the strength in depth that would allow us to cover any injury on international duty then fine but we haven’t. Sorry lad but for me it’s a no brainier. I’m sure McBurnies development would be better off by not aggravating a known injury he shouldn’t be playing for club either until fully fit. Answer.... Get a suitable loan in today! I’m sure future international prospects would like to think we as a club can manage their injuries properly,

I wouldn't worry too much about that don't think we be bidding for any internationals any time soon ,do you?..more like a few freebies or out of contract duds

Wasn't the club's job in the past few seasons to sort out ki's injuries so that he could play in meaningless friendlies and travel long distances to do so!!

How many international players are we going to sign, we can't afford a Brentford reserve.

International football is very good for the development of young footballers and they should not be stopped from playing for their countries.

But if he's not fully fit then why not just explain the circumstances? Surely it's understandable.

I wasn’t particularly referring to current International players and more ones with international ambitions which you would think would be the majority, although players like Celina certainly come under the former. McKay had a cap in 2016 and no doubt would want to get back in the team.

If we stopped McBurnie going and he got p*ssed off, we hadn’t signed McKay yet. January comes and McKay asked McBurnie about the potential move here and he mentioned the fact we stopped him going on International duty that may sway him to choose elsewhere.

It’s utterly counter productive. This short term thinking needs to be eradicated.

Disagree! If his injury gets agrivated he could be facing a long period out. Quite simple really lad, if he’s injured then don’t play him for club or country. Playing with injuries will in the long term prove costly.

With respect, whether you agree or disagree is irrelevant. It’s the reality of the situation.

If he’s injured then it is counter productive for Scotland to let him play, you also have to trust the professional player to declare his fitness accurately. We cannot and most certainly will not be stopping our players that want to join the International squads - and rightly so.

It’s not Scotland or McBurnies fault we’ve only got one semi fit senior striker. We’ve made our own bed on this one

He had the broken toe against Leeds and he scored 2 and got MOTM. It’s obviously not a concern otherwise he would t be playing at all.

Quick enough to complain about the like of Giggs pulling an international sickie.

I see no reason for him not to join up with the squad if only partially fit. However I would have an issue if he was made to play with risk of worsening his condition.

SCFC need to have a voice and input here as there is a short term and long term scenario to play out.
