Loan Players 23:36 - Aug 17 with 2937 viewsAl_Bundy

Hopefully the owners would have watched us tonight (or are they partying in DC Utd winning a game) to see quite clearly we need decent loan recruits for the spine of the side.

The kids did well but this could go very pear shape when we get injuries and suspensions if we continue with what we have.

We can only bring in players who are willing to come.

BULLSHIT, even though it is against what I believe and even more importantly what Potter believes, if you pay a player (his agent) enough then he will play for you.

The yanks don’t have a clue about football and likely to depend on what failed keeper Jenkins tells them. They see dollar signs not players and I still don’t understand why some people still don’t get it.

They have to want to come ... they don't.

Nonsense. Pay market rates and the right players will join.

Another couple of weeks with zero activity and more reports of players leaving on loan than coming in. Losing Routs, Naughton, Narsignh or maybe even Dyer with such a threadbare squad for a long hard season is another massive risk. It’s obvious we already need a quality DM, CF and back up in defence but if these four leave is it realistic we bring in 5-6 loan players in just over a week?

It's obvious we need to shift more players out to bring players in.
How much have we actually saved on the wage bill to date.

Transfers out 47 million
Transfers in 5.5 million.

The wage savings must be substantial as well.
No idea how much we lost last season though.

If we are not careful we'll be restructuring for L1 wages next season

Yes it’s tough to work out cost base. Last accounts for 2017 show salaries of £99m and other operating costs of £27m. As comparison Burnley in 2017 wage costs of £61m and £11m on other costs, somehow £44m lower cost base than ours with similar income.

The Trust must have more details but fag packet estimate would be we’ve cut player costs by around £50m. Logic is including bonuses / NIC:
Loanees (Sanches, Tammy, King) - save £12m including high loan fees.
Left / Retired (Rangel, Leon, Ki) - save £6m
Sold / loan to date (11 players) - save £25m
Next (Routs, Dyer, Nars, Naught) - save £7m
So that would be 21 players out and 5 in!
5 young players in on relatively low wages so offset by relegation clauses of remaining players.

There’s decent bonuses in 2017 costs (for staying up) and compensation for two managers sacked, so wages down to around £35m. I’ve no idea what the £27m other costs are as we don’t pay much for Stadium and seem completely out of sync with clubs of our size (eg Burnley £11m).

That would be a hell of a flight! More likely the first class travel of the Board and side-kicks.
