Never felt so underwhelmed by a visit to Giggle for a "competitive" match.
even a £5 in ( £2.50 concessions ) the fixture leaves me cold.

Got to agree with you about the status of the competition. It makes no sense that so many clubs allegedly voted to keep it going.
Can see the crowd struggling to reach four figures, to be honest, and with the nights drawing in and weather slowly turning, most will opt for an evening at home in the warmth, I imagine, rather than having to drag out the winter woolies for the trip to Gigg Lane. |  |

There might be merit in the competition if it allowed managers to select whatever team they saw fit, giving players game time who've not been starting
But then again, i guess the sponsors might see that as devaluing it. The sponsors name might give some players food for thought, though... |  |

We've an important league game at home to Gillingham and bury travel to promotion hopefuls Charlton.
Focus for both clubs will be on the league position given the respective poor starts and not picking up any unwanted disciplinary or injury issues. |  |

Without regular reserve/bounce games this is our best chance to give the youngsters game time as well as getting more minutes under the belt of our returning players.

Hilly mentioned in his post match interview it was an important game for the club plus isn't it a possible source of decent income, too - 20 k just for being in and 10k per win in the group stage, not uncomparable with a run to third round of the FA Cup (and surely much more winnable!).
And, of course, another chance to turn over the buckets!

I've said this before and I'll say it again; if they put the winners of the competition directly into the next season's third round of the FA Cup, it would make it worth winning. A simple thing like that, that wouldn't cost anything, would make the competition interesting.
