The official Garry's got the job debate thread on 18:11 - May 7 by exiledclaseboy | Dear god this tedious. I'm thinking of putting the words "Hope I'm wrong" into the Planet Swans swear filter along with the words "massive" and "gamble". |
Then don't read threads with "Garry" "Monk" and "Manager" in the title. Simple.

The official Garry's got the job debate thread on 18:13 - May 7 by Private_Partz | I have taken your advice Jackfath. Negative comments are unsettling and it is now pointless as GM is in post. Forgive me for not responding. I assure you I will get back to you if things go wrong and I will not be looking to score points. Having said that I really hope it is all a success. I will be first to praise all concerned. and admit my worries were unfounded if this is the case. |
I am a little lost as to what you were getting at. Were you saying the people that employed Mr Monk would get it in the neck or worryingly the people on here who aren't as vocal in their outrage at the appointment? Either way, I am sure your energies would be better spent elsewhere. Life's too short for so much pent up anger and anxiety with the hope of being able to one day let someone have it in the neck.

The official Garry's got the job debate thread on 18:17 - May 7 with 1263 views | exiledclaseboy | So, if the club had interviewed a list of candidates and still decided Monk was the best man for the job and appointed him everyone would have said "Oh, ok then"? Yeah right.

The official Garry's got the job debate thread on 18:27 - May 7 with 1219 views | Private_Partz | I was speaking metaphorically Jackfath. I am not looking to dish out violence lol. I think if you check my posts you will see that I do my best to remain polite to other users. Like I said (I sound like Brenda :-)) it is time to move on now. It serves no purpose other than to undermine the new manager and the club and that is the last thing I want to do.

We didn't give him a rolling contract because we were afraid he'd be poached by Barca next May. Obviously.

The official Garry's got the job debate thread on 17:22 - May 7 by DwightYorkeSuperstar | I'm conflicted. On the one hand I'm looking forward to being proven right when he is sacked / resigns / leaves with mutual consent next season, on the other hand he is going to leave us in a precarious position when he leaves and I very much would like to stay in this league. Hmm. |
You really are an absolute c*nt

You really are one strange sad truly miserable individual. I like many had misgivings about this appointment. However now it has been confirmed, I will be 100% behind Garry and the team. The last thing any true supporter of the club would want to is to hope that they are proved right by a manager or any other individual within the club failing. Grow up or better still go and support someone else

Well at least you're honest about it (even though you contradict yourself a few posts later). There are many others saying much the same as you who are being very much less honest about their hopes for Monk's success, or otherwise.

The official Garry's got the job debate thread on 19:11 - May 7 with 1077 views | pierre91 | I really wonder where some people are coming from on this. If, as Swansea City fans, whether we agree or disagree with the appointment, we still wish the best for our Club and will support them unconditionally. What is the point of posting a negative prediction (as opposed to a rational analysis) of where we may be down the line?? Who knows, but I have a sneaky feeling that the doom-mongerers simply seek a sad opportunity to say "I told to so........". Furk me, that'll make them feel great, won't it. Tragic, go support ManUre or some similarly entitled bunch, please. Meanwhile, the bulk of us will enjoy the ups and downs of not being some Mystic Meg type know-it-alls.

The official Garry's got the job debate thread on 19:24 - May 7 with 1029 views | ItchySphincter | Can't see why the board unanimously decided to give him the job if they thought he was going to take us hurtling towards the Championship. Doubt any of them want to get relegated either. Have to trust their judgement on this one again. It's going to be a long quiet summer for a change.

Well, we didn't go down, is that because of him or in-spite of him. i don't know. His time in charge has been a bit of a curates egg. depends which slant you want to put on it. what i will say is that when he was appointed I was in the "In Huw we trust" camp. as the season draws to a close though i have nagging doubts which i cannot shake off. I feel the appointment shows a lack of ambition and is the cheap option. I cannot for the life of me see why we did not wait until the end of the season to see who was available. We have beaten some woeful premier league teams under him. Had a couple of gallant loser results afew creditable draws and a few crap results. also untill he got lucky with Emnes, his substitutions were woeful. Not enough for me sorry

So when he made poor substitutions, he was rubbish, when he brought on Emnes, he was lucky....FFS, you couldn't make it up. It will be interesting to see who GM brings in as his back room staff...any sensible ideas??

Whereas I accept that Monk has done nothing to justify the view that he is going to be outstanding for us, neither has he done anything to justify the view that he is going to be awful, either. He's done a decent enough job since he was appointed. Some good results and some good performances and some (less) bad results and bad performances. Given the position we hold in the Premiership, this was always going to be the case. I'd say that so far we are around par.
