He was a youth coach at Stuttgart who apparently have a very good youth set-up, then moved onto Augsberg as head of youth/reserve team manager before replacing Jurgen Klopp at Mainz where he's consistently had them competing in the top half of the table for several seasons now despite having a small budget.
Basically he plays good football, has good knowledge of successful academies and gets results at a small club with a small budget, that ticks a lot of boxes for us. Plus he's only 40'ish so he'd be a long term option too. | |

Ditto Julio - on loan now until end of the year I think? So no fee there either.

STEVEN PRESSLEY.
Tough gritty Scotsman. A young manager (40) took over a shambolic Coventry City who had been handed a 10 point deduction at the start of the season.
Works on a limited budget, runs a tight ship with discipline, players even have to sign in and out of training sessions. Got rid of 19 players during the summer who he thought wouldn't be up to his methods and philosophy, brought 3 in and promoted players from their academy.
His young team plays passing football at high intensity.
As well as the points deduction, the team don't even play at home, they have to play so called home games 35 miles away with low support. However, team spirit still remains high.
Instead of capitulating like other clubs who have had financial issues and a points deduction Coventry are currently in mid table and 12 points off the play offs with a game in hand. Going for the play offs.
He has all the attributes we need, he also would be delighted to join us and would not cost a fortune to employ. [Post edited 23 Feb 2014 13:15]

He did but he got them to the play-offs and a Wembley cup final in his first season and then promoted as champions in his second. He did spend money but he delivered in complete contrast to what Redknapp is doing. | |

We don't need someone who has an ego and will want money to spend because he managed in the premier league. We need to get away from that culture.
He inherited a decent team at Cardiff and also had money to spend. He would never have kept Cardiff in the Premier League, he spent lots of money on average players. | | | |

Money - that's the problem, he has a bargaining tool to use against us, Wigan's chairman has always invested in the team so he'll expect even more . Need to grab them early.

You're always in a cleft stick.The ones that will get you up aren't good enough for the Prem.The ones good enough for the Prem either don't want to come or have difficulty adapting to lower league tactics - remember Vialli?It's a monumental gamble either way - a real pinsticker job.
Of the ones available should it be now?I like Laudrup's approach to football,free flowing fare.Harry's quite good at keeping it tight but short on inventiveness.

I think we go for a foreign manager in the same mold of pochitino and laudrup. We keep possession well, and i think we need a foreign manager who can turn the possession in to meaningful attacks.
Maybe try Eusebio Sacristán who is the Barcelona B manager. He would provide entertaining football which is unheard of at QPR at the moment. He would also promote youth like Barcelona are famous for. |  |

TF's problem is facing and risking replacing Harry now or after the season is over.
His judgement is filled with what if; Harry gets us promoted or into the Play -Offs?
Do we need Premiership experience if we go up?
Will Harry just get the sulks and give up because of a sore knee?
I don't trust Harry Redknapp, I'd recommend TF doesn't either.
