I see Aberdeen beat Grangers 2-0 the other day, now we know why Mole Face has been sniffing about.
He needs cheap new players and fast!

Willock and Dykes will defo be sold in the summer, both in their last year (assuming we option Willock, no 'option' on Dykes I read).

So, we shall be lucky to get £2m from both of those. This means as they both cost £2.75m together, we shall actually be down on those deals. If that happens, then yes I shall be in the Les must go camp. The whole point of Les is that he gets players cheap and sells them high, not the other way around.

If we manage to get £3m for both, then not great but I would be okay to give Les more time if we somehow managed to at least the same amount we paid for em.

zzzzzzzzzz

Given lack of time left on his contract, lack of suitors, and the lack of hamstrings on him, will mean we will take what we can get at this stage. Based on the last few years with us: those hamstrings are unlikely to perform consistently or with any certainty. He knows this and I don't blame him if he wants to try getting a bit of cash out of them while he can.

Of course, as soon as he goes to GRFC, they'll discover something and he'll be skipping around like Rudolf Nureyev prior to a humongous mega-bucks move...best try get an Eze Clause if we can.

Really! You're going to judge the DOF purely on the current valuation of these players?
There are lot of factors to judge him on. This is just too simplistic. You really are living up to the online name.

FWIW I think Les should go because the plan has run out of steam and the club needs a reset, which has already begun with the appointment of GA.

PBBC will be lucky to still be in a job in the summer. I think there is another 'old firm' to come and he really needs a win to stem the criticism.

Decent player on his day but hasn't had any "day" for ages

He won't fit into our style of play going forward so would take 1 million and a hefty sell on clause if possible

I think it's going to look quite like Warburton's first summer, where you've got a squad that's collapsed the season before (under McClaren that time), a squad propped up by loans, and a squad with lots of players we can no longer afford to keep. We did 16 in and out that summer, I reckon we'll be pushing past that number this summer once you count the loans being returned.

the not so frightening bit then was that we, well I felt we had a good man in charge well capable of delivering. This time I fear for a changing room full of orcs, if Ainsworth is here and given some level of freedom. He even looks like he should be in lord of the rings, bar the unprofessional hair dying and fake tan.

even in the last year f his deal we should be trying to get a few million for him, plenty of clubs will be interested in the 3/4million price range rather than what we would have wanted a year ago

Well he won't be going to Rangers then.

We've got very little chance of getting that money with his contract and injury record IMO.

Annoying he’s going to rangers as I feel Beale should take responsibility for willocks disappointing last six months. He rushed him back and flogged him to death when the first few games under him didn’t look great. Should have slowly introduced him back.
He’s definitely lacking confidence fitness wise and has had to shoulder too much of the responsibility alongside chair attacking wise for the team.
Doesn’t look to have a future with gaz who I doubt will tolerate his lack of defensive/team work. Is a shame as he’s a talented player but if he don’t sign a contract he has to go. And I don’t really blame him for not signing a contract. And I don’t blame for club as the players and agents hold all the cards in this situation.

It's a slightly weird way to looking at deals being up or down purely on what you paid for the player - because you also got years of them playing for you, and you haven't factored their wages in so you'd be down even if you got what they paid for them back. You can't judge deals by X cost Y and we got Z back

No, in hindsight you *think* he's thrown a strop.

Far, far too much assumption about players on this site for me.

Sort of depressing now that we rejected £6m for Willock because everyone thought he was worth more, now we'd be lucky to get £3m.

I think we'll be lucky to get £2m for him as it stands, or as he doesn't stand, given his hamstrings. It's very unfortunate. He clearly is a wonderful player but who would risk more than a few million on him given how many times his hamstrings have broken down?

Never knowingly right.

Well if you believe what's written on other social platforms then we are looking at £750k for Willock with a sell on fee included. Also rumours that chair is off to the bundesliga. So suspect that would be for somewhere around 3 million.

If Brentford sell their keeper then they were also rumors that they were interested in Dieng. Although after the second half of the season I'm not sure they would fancy him anymore.

If you were the Chairman of a club and you're Manager wanted to sign Willock, you'd do all the investigations necassary fitness/fitness records, sick note/absenteeism etcetera etcetera and probably come to the conclusion like me, "nah this bloke Is a bit wonky" come back and see me when he's played 15 consecutive games and scored half-dozen goals.

So the reality is that we have wasted the past 4 seasons of development and the Eze money.
The club has not moved forward, and now with Ainsworth, whose style of football I make no secret of not liking, it could be argued we're going backwards again. Shocking.

We'll be lucky to get £500k for Willock.

Let's hope so. Three bad hamstring injuries in 12 months and a year until he's available on a free isn't exactly a tray of hot cakes though...

More like a tray of warmed through cakes.

And Willock clearly isn't committed to cakes.

Suffering since 1978.

You might get one of the relegated side sniffing around, Southampton would be one to try and sell to

if the fee is gonna be 500k or 750k might as well keep him

We are either unlucky or incompetent or both as a club when it comes to making money off transfers.

But then we're back to the FFP situation we've played ourselves into which makes £500k from Rangers now a much more enticing prospect than not only nothing next summer but also another year of wages (£125k if he's on £5k a week, £250k if he's on £10k a week etc) for a player who's not giving many indications he's going to be much use to use next season.

If it can be sold this summer it will be sold - £2m wasn't a good deal for Darnell Furlong, but we did it.

Players come and go all the time. That's the nature of shorter contracts and Bosman.
Why are you assuming that the club was likely to be "moving forwards" when we spunked a load of cash we can't really afford on last season's failed promotion bid?
As I have said repeatedly (and will no doubt be doing so again for the coming couple of months at least), why are you assuming that we will be going "backwards" under GA, based on what you've seen in a few games when we're trying to scrabble around madly for the points to keep us in the Champ?
He's made no secret of liking Taylor Richards. Why not think GA, LF and whoever else might be looking for players that complement and feed off him for next season, amongst whatever else we'll be missing when we get the summer player churn?

The game changer in all this would be if a club (Newcastle) came in with a big Eze bid and Southgate gives him a cap to stop other countries sniffing round him. Would mean we’d be in a much better bargaining place and could go back to Beale with a short two worded reply.

You’re bringing to mind the old Chinese curse, “May you live in interesting times.”
It certainly sounds like we’re going to be living in “interesting times” next season.
Possibly relegation with a record low points total kind of interesting.
