| Forum Thread | Can't make it today - ticket spare for a charity donation at 11:42 21 Dec 2024
Had to miss Norwich as my ankle and knee injury meant I couldn't walk. Got up a couple of hours ago, and I'm coming down with something. Grrr!! Anyone want my ticket (B block) message me your details. However, please make a donation to a charity. Give 'em a cheer from me :-( |
| Forum Thread | The notion of kill it to survive. at 08:23 10 Nov 2024
Said it about a year ago in the midst of the despair occasioned by Ainsworth's tenure: QPR might need to die before it can be reborn. However, like many, I really thought coming into this season that just maybe, we might have turned the corner. What a misguided fool I was! QPR have gone from needing a reset, right through a reboot, to needing a major intervention from outside as there's nothing inside the house that can turn the juggernaut around. To me, sadly, it seems an irretrievable mess. I can't think anyone in their right mind would buy us! We've gone through a cast of cowboys and are running out of a caste of Indians and I can't help thinking their money will dry up soon. All these owners have really done is put the Malays in malaise and if we're circling the drain on the pitch, how far are we away from going down the drain off it? A consistent catalogue of crippling decisions have probably set in motion a real existential threat and while I dont know who the new Saviour would be to lead us out of this tyranny of potiful management, but I do wonder if it wouldn't be prudent to pull the plug; rid the dross; and start over again at whatever level that might be. We'd have a clean slate, unencumbered by the yoke of the utter incompetence we currently work under. Thus, we'd get out ahead of where we might eventually plummet to by, dare I say it: taking back control of our disorder! Tony Fernandes killed an F1 team, and he and his ilk have pretty much killed us off. If we were an ordinary business we'd have been wound up years ago and that Malay magic money tree ain't going to keep yielding forever. If the plug is eventually pulled and/or we don't lift ourselves off the canvas and do go down, then the saviour is currently not on our payroll. Seriously, only QPR could believe a 26 year old pup with a dodgy algorithm was the smart solution! |
| Forum Thread | Tendonitis at 09:48 7 Nov 2024
When you need info advice, to Loftipedia you go. Been suffering for well over a year now with tendonitis in my left ankle. I started out with physio, and moved on to having electric shock treatment since February. Regularly ice, stretch, and rest, but it remains stiffened, sore, and at times, bloody painful as in, waking up at night in pain. There are a couple of other historic and recent factors in play. Got an MRI tomorrow on a knee I badly twisted two months ago, which really isn't helping! I've Googled/Youtubed a lot, but nothing is alleviating the ankle problem. So, any fellow sufferers out there: any advice/suggestions will, I can assure you, be gratefully received. In advance, many thanks/mercis/grazies/gracias/xie xies. |

Given last night's loss, that emerging from over the pond, allied with my own current battles with 18 months of chronic tendonitis in the left ankle and wondering what an MRI scan on Friday will reveal about my right knee I badly twisted on holiday in September, what uplifting posts can we muster to lift our individual and collective fogs. Me? I actually have absolutely nothing uplifting to input. F..k, what a depressing time to be a pain riddled Rfosi, harbouring concerns about how it's all going!!! |
| Forum Thread | Where will QPR be on 29 Oct. 2028 at 06:36 29 Oct 2024
With the world lurching ever more toward self-destruction thus, hopefully assuming we're all still here, where will the Rangers be in four years time? 1. Owners/CEO - We will not be owned by the current lot, and Nourry will be elsewhere (MI5 probably). New owners talk a good game, but no cash to push on. 2. Division - still lower- to mid-championship. 3. Players - none of the current main players will be here. Chair overseas; Morrison doing ok top Championship side; JCS sold to a lower Prem side; Verane doing well in Spain or France. Dunne in Scotland; and Field at some top northern outfit. The rest retired or drifted away. 4. Ex-Players - Eze will be overseas; Dykes in the US; Sincs still in the Championship; 5. Manager/coach - Marti did ok by most measurements, now in Spain. The manager will be an ex-player. 6. Cups - still no great shakes, but we did make the 6th round by virtue of easy draws and lost to first decent side. 7. Neighbours - Chelsea right up there; Fulham down but back up straight away; and Brentford defying gravity. 9. Ground - Loftus Road. [Post edited 29 Oct 9:10]

To put things into perspective: Just heart wrenching to read his cancer is terminal, and he has a few years to live. As bad as that is, around the time of his diagnosis, his wife discovered she has MS. They have two children that must be planned for! Much strength to them all and hopefully, some break through might be found for him. |

Reported on Beeb the FA has held talks with him over the second hardest job in footy after Marti's. Doesn't he have a record of falling out with everyone? |

An ex-QPR player has just signed for a third tier team in a Gulf country. This is what they have said about him to their fans in Insta: "This is more than a signing - it's a statement, a game-changer for both our club and football in the UAE," Precision said on their Instagram page. "Known for his electrifying talent and skill, Ravel brings world-class experience and flair that will help our team to achieve its goals." If you don't already know, then you'll chuckle when you find out who they've just signed! [Post edited 30 Sep 19:00]

| Forum Thread | French Ligue 2 - Reaction to TV deal at 07:58 1 Sep 2024
A few days ago I caught a piece on French TV about the reaction of fans to the Bein Sports deal, that's having the same effect on dates and times of matches. Fair play, and given their penchant for striking, they're making their feelings known. Lazer lighting the commentary booth during games; smashing/spray painting the OB trucks; huge signs on terraces; bombarding the pitch with tennis balls during a game; and here's the really good move, boycotting games. Fair fux to them. Not sure if other league twos in Europe similarly subjected to crap times or if fans are protesting, but with £150/active pricing for Oasis tickets, unless folks vote with their wallets and don't go or buy TV packages, this crap will only become more ingrained and worse. Modern life is rubbish!! |

Bienvenue mes amis! Will be glued to the screen for the next few weeks, watching anything and everything. The Olympics are my favourite sporting event ever since I got hooked on the 1972 games. Arrived in Paris yesterday. Amazing to see so many French people smiling, being polite, and offering service without the Gallic shrug of indifference! I know Derby is up next week, anyone else visiting? If so, lets reserve tables at the Georges V and push on from there. Allez les Brits!! Edit: weather not looking good for the OC tonight. Twice, apparently, I've been caught by the TV cameras watching QPR (Anfield in the league cup 86 and Vicarage Road the night Akos got butted) both times i didn’t know and thankfully, I wasn't picking my nose. These days, it seems to me, people behave like jackasses when they see themselves on the screen, waving at themselves like seals. Ever been caught by the TV camera and if so, what did the world see? If you haven't or, for your next cameo, what would you like to do? Me, don't look at the camera, and lip readers having a field day reading my anglo saxon industrial language! |
| Forum Thread | The really best bit about the UK Election at 09:22 5 Jul 2024
I watched with our cat until a few hours ago, and leaving the result out of it, I was immensely proud of the UK! Just look at how the transition of power took place. Seemless, without rancor or violence. The speaches of Mourdant and Buckland were exceptional given their results, thought Hunt was interesting too; albeit a case of: why weren't you doing this in power? And plenty of departing Tories congratulated and wished their victors the best. Compare that with the US in 2020, and what might happen in France next week and the US soon. As Mrs PH just said to me: Last night said a lot about the UK, a lot other countries should note and admire. Exhausted now, Girona gone for a burton, as I'll be taking naps all day. However, with great power comes great responsibility for Labour. They certainly made the right noises on the night - so fingers crossed they not only do a good job, but also attract back lost voters to Farage. And let's be honest: Reform split the Tories, and handed Labour the win but now the big issue for the Tories is what party do they want to be? Lurch to the right to suck up to Farage or repel him and learn the lesson of last night about being out of touch. We'll get an idea when we see who they elect to replace Sunak. |

Do we have any info on when the friendlies are going to be played? I know the offish says they're behind closed doors, but any ITK stuff/thoughts as to whether 'leeway' will be shown? Short drive there/back, so if we can't jib-in, any suggestions for what to do in Girona instead? |
| Forum Thread | Panenka...just gets better! at 06:04 28 Jun 2024
Article on the BBC about that penalty that's worth a read. Bit I found amazing was that in the event of the final ending in a draw, it was scheduled to go to a replay, however, a few days before the final, the Germans approached the Czechs and asked if they'd agree to penalties instead. Thinking they'd fair better in a sudden death shoot out as opposed to a second match, they agreed, and the rest is history. The reason being: several German players had holidays booked for immediately after the tournament! A classic case of the Germans having their towels out on the loungers before 'czeching' the weather!! https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/crgglxwge10o |

I went to the baseball at Wham! yesterday and of all in-stadia eating I've seen around the world (and I include the US in this), I've never seen a hot dog as big as was being devoured by many. I'd say at least 24 inches/60 cms in length, smothered in God knows what, it looked awful. I can only imagine how awkward it would be to eat and for those sat around a person doing so. However, it was what happened during a break that was car crash viewing: they got two fat-fooks out to have an eating competition. Looked like two blokes sucking off a teletubby. Anyone else witnessed such horrors? |
