Sinclair Armstrong on 16:23 - Jan 17 by Rangersw12 | He couldn't get in the Torquay starting 11 on a regular basis so he nowhere near our 1st team level As Warbs has said is he better than Dykes, Gray and Austin? |
Pep obviously thinks so
Sinclair Armstrong on 18:34 - Jan 17 with 3858 views | golborne | City were supposedly keeping tabs when we signed him, so this is probably rehashed nonsense
Sinclair Armstrong on 18:42 - Jan 17 with 3799 views | gazza1 | Really, Pep keeping tabs on Armstrong.....really. Whatever next!!!!

"He couldn't get in the Torquay starting 11 on a regular basis" Not true. He played eight times for Torquay and six of those were starts.

Not sure any of that equates to Pep wanting him!
Sinclair Armstrong on 10:08 - Jan 18 with 3230 views | DieByYourSide | 2 goals in 8 in the Conference doesn't seem likely to equal interest from City. Especially seeing as Pep doesn't even like playing with centre forwards! More likely to be his agent pushing for him to be promoted to the first team with us? Although concerning if he's got a d*ckhead in his ear at that young age... [Post edited 18 Jan 2022 10:09]

Wouldn't be a total surprise would it though. I always think of John Bostock when these things come up. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I think you're most likely right there, Golborne.

Or Josh Bowler. I'd hope that he has some regrets in taking the money to sit in Everton's academy team for two years rather than getting an education actually playing proper 'mens' football. I'd outlaw agents for players under 21. Until that age the PFA can do that job for them negotiating contracts etc.

Sinclair Armstrong on 11:04 - Jan 18 with 2984 views | DieByYourSide | Would hope that with the amount of Bostock stories out there younger players have a bit more well-rounded view of development these days. Each will have their own view on how they want to get to where they want to be, maybe only signing short term contracts and backing yourself to always attract interest as a free agent. I'd imagine our plan is to loan him out to a higher level, then perhaps bring him into the first team fold during the final year of his contract. But if he doesn't want to be part of it or see us as a good platform to develop his skills then that's up to him...

| |
Sinclair Armstrong on 11:31 - Jan 18 with 2886 views | DieByYourSide | Sterling was playing for Liverpool in the Premier League at 17, Armstrong's a year older and has done quite well at Torquay.

Given that Everton were looking to develop young talent at the time, I don't think JB was necessarily wrong to go there. They had/were developing Stones, Calvert-Lewin and for the life of me, I can't think of some other pups that were breaking through, but Everton were certainly putting out their intentions to develop youth.
