I may beating but when has Fernandez ever been a target for other clubs whilst he has been with us .

Bang average ,flaky, unreliable, poor passer, indifferent passer, shocking header of a ball and inspirational ? Not in a hundred lifetimes

I d be content with VDH and Bartley to start with Roberts and Olsson full backs .

That s probably because of Fede being hung like a Yak.
,not football reasons

Imagine Pulis putting up with FF and his mis heading balls and mistimed tackles

If the players have relegation clauses in their contracts, then I can’t blame them for wanting to move on but part of me thinks they should be made to stick it out and take the cut in wages relegation clauses would bring!

If they have requested transfers, then that may suit the club as they may well have to forfeit a golden goodbye type pay off for moving on.

The bottom line is that the club is likely to need to cut its wage bill significantly. I read that the average salary for a Swansea player was £32k per week, not sure if that is right, but to make inroads in to the wage bill a lot of players will be moved on. If the club can move the big earners on then it will be easier to rebuild

The garbage on this post is spectacular. Players slagged off as “Championship players” suddenly aren’t even that.

We have players who will ship out because they easily can. Ki & King already, Fernandez, Ayew J, Mawson, Fabianski. Please not the last! But not many others.

We have players who will want to leave, but who will really want them? Naughton, Clucas, Ayew A, and Olsson & Narsingh (maybe).

We have others who will want to stay or who realise they can’t go because we don’t want to or can’t sell them in the circumstances. Nordfeldt, VDH, Bartley, Roberts, Carroll, Dyer, Routledge, Fulton, McBurnie, plus Bony & Fer (due to injury).

And we have the overseas contingent who really aren’t coming back. Mesa, Borja, Montero. And Amat - he looks so happy on Facebook that I want him to stay in Seville.

So that’s next year’s squad before reinforcements, What do we need? One FB, one CB, one DM, one box to box MF, and a target man who will be fit when Bony isn’t fit or has gone.

There will be players leaving but I can’t see as many going as most think.
Think Ben Gibson last year with Boro- teams wanted him but wouldn’t stump up the asking price.
I fully expect Alf, Fab, A.Ayew, Bony to leave. Due to Alf and Fab being too good for the championship. And Ayew, Bony due to wages.
Jordan is a different one- will teams stump up £12/15 million for him? I’m not sure.
I expect our team to look something like this come the first game

Nordfeldt
Naughton. VDH. Bartley. Olsson
Fulton
Fer. Clucas
Dyer. J.Ayew(??- new signing?). Oli.

Fede probably can get better work, but I hope we don't release him. Naughton... call me silly.. but I think Championship could be his level.

I do agree re Fab, no he's not a mercenary and certainly would have stayed had we stayed up. I don't blame anyone for wanting to move as it is their career, and if I was in their position, I would, not doubt, (if good enough) be thinking upon similar lines.

The base point remains the same though, I don't think we should hold on to anyone what wishes to move (for whatever reason) too many times this season (and last when it came to crunch games) a lot of the players didn't seem to care enough to put their bodies on the line. Compare to the way Huddersfield approached the last couple of games. They are the type of players you want, maybe not as skilled but dedicated enough to put 100 % effort in.

Do that, you can forgive a lack of skill

Agree commitment to the cause has to be there with every player.
Trouble is, the fans will not forgive a lack of skill. They have been too spoilt under Roberto / Rodgers / Laudrup and feel entitled.
Cardiff have played football that our fans wouldn't accept down here, yet it got them promoted.
The reality is professional football is about a means to an end. Promotion , consolidation or avoiding a second relegation is all that will matter to the club, not how pretty it looks - not to the fans though.

They don’t hand transfer requests in blind. It may not happen, but he knows of interest from somewhere.

However much we all loved the Swansea way, winning is the most important thing for most (granted not all) fans. If we were playing Warnock football but winning more often than not, most fans would take it. Of course, winning in the style we used to is the dream.

I would say any player who thinks they are to good for Swans and Championship should be out on the list and shipped out, whoever they are. We need a squad who wants to play for the Swans more than ever. If we force players to stay then you end up with the same situation as Sunderland.

I thought Sunderland had the opposite problem? They bought and loaned in about 16-18 players this season. I assumed they'd had a massive clear out and tried to start again. Could be wrong though as I haven't been following what they've been up to.

I always assumed those teams that kept themselves together after relegation stand the better chances of coming up. Newcastle, Burnley, etc.

We’ve been playing warnock football for at least two seasons now. But don’t have the physical players, work ethic or discipline to do it correctly.

We will now finally see who wants to play for the club and who doesn't care less and wants to move on.

Any player that wants to go, we should let them go. Any transfer request handed in should be deemed as that person being surplus to requirements. Get them sold and get them sold quickly, there is a World Cup coming up (even though that is not really going to affect us in the Championship)

We will then know who wants to play for us and how and where we need to rebuild. I would rather have a team that wants to play for Swansea, and win less games then a bunch of mercenaries that are playing simply for the money. It may be the case that we will have to spend a couple of years in the Championship, building a team and a style of play before getting promoted again I don't think that's too bad a thing as getting promoted too quickly whilst playing a new style which has not been properly developed may result in us finding ourselves in the same position again.

If we can get a manager who will buy in to the old style and develop a group of players to do the same, be it from the under 23s or elsewhere, the future could be rosy. Let's be honest would any of us really want to spend another year in the Premiership playing dull football, just surviving relegation or take the chance on rebuilding and getting the style back from which we were once so much admired ?

Was about to post similar thoughts myself. If they go, feck em. They aren't good enough for what we need anyway. We have three years until the money runs out. Let's spend it getting back the Swansea Way. Develop our own, and scout those who are bursting to play at the top level. We have spent to much on Billy Big Bollox types, and Gold Chain Charlies. Remember where we got Leon and Lee and Ash from. Far happier watching them giving all, than the Muppets we have had recently

We’ve been playing Warnock(ish) football and losing. I’d agree, if we had more physical players, we’d probably play even more like that. Winning ugly is fine, losing ugly isn’t.

As DM. Lesser of two evils in that position.

At east Fulton could possibly do a job there in the Championship, I doubt if Carroll could play there in the
U-19s.

About £7M it could have been a lot worse.

Good riddance...... they're both hopeless.

Only snag is with Fernandez gone who have we got left in the squad to give away limitless amounts of needless free kicks in dangerous positions on the edge of the box?

No doubt the scouting dept will have a folder full of adequate replacements just as hopeless and obliging to other teams free kick specialists.
