Watched the Hateful Eight this evening, watched a few of Tarentino's films and enjoyed them, this wasn't one of them.

This was a much anticipated film for me....never made it to the end, walked out.

What a load of crud, the script seems to have been knocked up by a couple of 20 yr offs over the course of a weekend. Very thin, childish storyline interspersed with gratuitous blood n guts n bullets...4 out of 10.

Don't be deceived by the trailer...not my cup of tea but many would enjoy it I'm sure... Tarrantino has lost it IMHO.

The lives of others.2006.

Recommended by winston.

Stunning tale of life in the good ol DDR, a true socialist state where they were all comrades.

Warts and all, we re very lucky in this country to have the freedom we have.

It's a must see film for those born after 89.

It's not, it's a 3 hour film, that can seem to drag along in the first hour or so while they build the story up, if anyone has got the attention span of a gnat, then it's probably not for them.

Creed is sensational. If you're a Rocky fan you'll love it, probably ranked just behind Rocky II in the series for me.

I'll ignore your flippant reply given the seriousness of the subject matter.

Watched 'Spooks' last night, awful film imho, nothing like the excellent BBC series. Also watched The West Wing on Sky Atlantic this morning, I'd forgotten what a great tv series it was. Excellent cast and script.

Holy Cow, JF!

DId your wife stage her own disappearance and murder to frame you?

Anyway, I have a choice of Hateful 8, Star Wars or the Revenant for my cinema trip on Wednesday. Recommendations, please? I'm guessing not Hateful 8, given comments earlier in the thread.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Revenant, well worth a watch. Enjoyed Star Wars too but I think you need to be a fan.

This !!

Absolutely love it - earlier series more than later if I'm honest but it's all brilliant.

Also liked his other series - The Newsroom and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

Watched Woman in Gold this week - film with Helen Mirren about true story of stolen Klimt painting by Nazis - really enjoyed it.

Big fan of Studio 60, shame it was canned after one series. Only seen the pilot of The Newsroom.

It wasn't. I caught it in 70mm. One of the best cinema experiences. Django and Inglorious Basterds do edge it, but Hateful Eight is closer in style to Reservoir Dogs. If you like Tarantino's older stuff, you'll enjoy it.

Thanks for recommendations for The Revenant, went to see it last night, very impressed.

It's a violent and unremittingly bleak film, but has terrific acting and amazing cinematography. Stunning Canadian Arctic locations. I understand the 'bear attack' scene uses CGI but you'd never know it.

My old man said exactly the same, a gruesome film he said and the blood very realistic!

Glad you enjoyed it. That is a well made film and a great storyline.

What really impressed me is the way Cgi technology has moved on...you really can't tell the difference any more...that grizzly bear attack was seamless...
Cracking film 9 out 10.

Again, The Revenant.Absolute classic film.If DiCaprio doesn't win the Oscar for best actor then there's an agenda against him.Best film I've seen in a long time. The bear scene is mindblowing and the bit where they're both fighting and rolling down the hill I still can't get my head around the brilliant CGI.

Joy is another good film on Kodi atm with the beautiful Jennifer Lawrence.

Also the new Steve Jobs film is worth a watch.Didn't realize he was such a tosser.
