Anecdotally there does seem to be a few different faces and many of these have been attending more often. The U block Ultras have done a great job but leave them where they are. There is scope for more of them in that area. Too many logistical issues moving to W, espcially as I do not want to lose my seat! |

If the one in the 6th minute had found a touch from Mani or Moss it could have been a more comfortable win. Allarakhia offers more going forward than Pritchard and Moss, but has obvious flaws defensively against pacey, direct wide players. I suppose who doesn't! With Tobi out we need that attacking option from wing back. |

We had so many chances but they fell to everyone but Mani and another day that is a comfortable 3 or 4 nil victory. Pettit and East both had good games and Perry was also combative. I wonder how close Smith is to starting? The players get a well earned mid week without a game and after tomorrow the pitch has two weeks without games. |

A deserved start for Pettit. Allarakia staring gives us a bit more attacking guile at wing back. Bilongo back on the bench as Duku drops out. |

Another good piece of business. If we did get promoted he would be able to make the step up, although we would need to bring in competition/depth in that position. If Gordon does re-sign we have all of our key players signed up for at least next season and have the flexibility to improve in other areas when other players' contracts expire at the end of the season. |

Poor Bethell. Great innings which should have been game winning. The drop cost 74 runs in 35 balls. |

To wrap him in cotton wool. He had been out injured for a while and his minutes had increased. At 3-1 the game was probably won so Duku could the the donkey work up top with fresh legs for the last 15 minutes. |

We looked much better with Smith and Petit on. Mani is such a class finisher and is definitely back into his groove. We need to be better defending set pieces. I thought we had pretty much sorted that issue. Hopefully Gilmour is okay as we missed his drive. Francis and East ars too similar. |

Great start but then still in first gear. You are then always susceptible to a set piece goal, error etc. We need to up it and get Rodney and Barlow on the ball. |

Just seen the winner. The keeper should have done much better as it went straight through him. |

Tobi must have suffered a reoccurance of his injury and Hosannah misses out on the bench. [Post edited 28 Feb 14:10]

Jacks' is having a fantastic tournament. That is his fourth man of the match award. From 2 for 2 that is some win. Hopefully Buttler will find some form soon. We are likely to play India in the semis, assuming they beat the West Indies, which on current form is no forgone conclusion. |

The wing back area is definitely somewhere we need to strengthen, esepcially if we get promoted. Moss is doing a job, but as you say he is limited going forward. Great to play against the better teams to nullify their threats. Tobi is a wholehearted player and a great guy and offers a bit of pace down that side, but if we are to get better do we need someone who is a bit better technically? Allarakia offers attacking threat but can struggle defensively against quicker wide players and due to the physical demands of the role rarely lasts a full game. I would be looking a a quicker, left footed option to play left wing back, who can defend as well as attack. Maybe Bilongo is that option and is being trained up tactically for next season? Beckwith signing for two years is great news. Whatever happens we have a spine signed up, but with enough players out of contract to be able to strengthen in areas such as wing back and number 10. |

A good move for him if he can get more game time. I wonder if there is a loan signing coming in to cover for the rest of the season? |

First team into the semi finals. Great innings by Brook. Loved how he took charge by coming in at 3 and taking the game home. |

Indeed. I suppose the question is could Pep win the league with Aston Villa, Villarreal or Stuttgart? |

Great bowling, especially by Jacks to help defend a below par score. England Lions are playing in Pakistan and have just won again against their development side. Coles getting wickets and runs again. He is definitely one to watch out for and could replace Dawson, although he is a much better batter. |

If you look at the league tables for the seasons we got promoted their were no teams (apart from Notts Cheaty) who had massively disproportionate budgets for the league. In recent times Wrexham have been promoted with budgets way above what the other teams in the league were operating on. York, Carlisle and Forest Green will have much higher budgets than us so in that regard we are overachieving. Playing budgets generally deterimine success. Below is a quote about the book Soccernomics: I suggest reading the book Soccernomics. It goes into this, and the findings are quite interesting. Basically, the single most important factor in how well a team performs is the total wage bill. This implies that players tend to be paid what they are worth, and the team with the best players wins. Managers don't have as much impact as you might think when you look at the statistic big picture. Put another way, if you add up the wage bills of all the teams in a league, the order would closely match the league table regardless of who the managers are. Whilst there are outliers and our promotions under Hill were outliers I suspect in more recent times these are less likely to happen. Even Bromley have 'splashed the cash' this season. Lincoln is probably a decent example of a team doing much better than they should. |
