Kyron Gordon Joins Dale Thursday, 4th Jan 2024 18:12 by Chaff Rochdale have added to their threadbare squad with the signing of defender Kyron Gordon from AFC Fylde. The 21-year-old comes in from AFC Fylde where he only spent a matter of months having joined in September on a short-term deal. He made 7 appearances for the Coasters this season but his last game was back in October in a 3-0 defeat to Oxford City. His contract at Fylde came to an end this week and Oldham fans seemed convinced he was heading to Boundary Park but he has instead joined Dale. Gordon came up through the ranks at Sheffield United, at the same time as former Dale players Sam Graham, George Broadbent, Femi Seriki and Jake Eastwood and is naturally a right-sided central defender but can play right back as well. He’s had loan spells at Boston United where he made 3 appearances, and Boreham Wood where he made 4 appearances before being released by Sheffield United last summer. The news comes as Jim McNulty confirmed that Dale’s young starlet George Nevett will be ruled out for around 8 weeks with ankle ligament damage. The 17-year-old will have been likely to leave this month anyway with rumours circulating about a move to Crystal Palace which would bring in some much-needed cash for Dale.
