LFW Monthly Awards - November 2008 Friday, 19th Dec 2008 18:10 Welcome back to LFW Monthly Awards, as we bring you the nominees for the player, match and goal of November 2008, plus the result of the October vote. Thank you all in advance for taking part. Welcome back to the LFW Monthly Awards Vote, this time for November 2008 and for the second month running, we welcome another new Manager in Paulo Sousa. It was also another mixed month with only two victories in seven games, in which a trip to Old Trafford was in amongst those. There was more positive news with the goal tally in November - in October, we had just three to choose from and in November, we had four. Moving swifly on and October's results are as follows; GOAL OF THE MONTH - Samuel Di Carmine v Birmingham - Samuel Di Carmine, drew his foot back and drilled a fearsome right foot shot with such power it knocked him clean off his feet. The ball flew like an arrow into the corner of Taylor’s net. Di Carmine got such power and venom behind the strike that it ripped into the back of the net before the keeper had even set off on his dive. He didn’t even know it had happened. Loftus Road erupted. MATCH OF THE MONTH - QPR 1-0 Birmingham
PLAYER OF THE MONTH - Radek Cerny Moving switfly on to November's nominees...
But firstly, how to vote;
Send an email to us here at LFW - loftforwords@yahoo.co.uk On the message board thread or On the poll on the front page MATCH OF THE MONTH Ipswich v QPR
QPR v Cardiff Manchester United v QPR QPR v Burnley Watford v QPR
QPR v Charlton
Palace v QPR GOAL OF THE MONTH Gavin Mahon v Cardiff - Buzsaky slipped the ball wide to Ramage he had the time to produce the first good cross of his QPR career and with only four Cardiff defenders at the back post Gavin Mahon could climb unchallenged and find the far corner of the net with a beautifully angled and guided header over Heaton. Dexter Blackstock v Burnley - Cook needed a bit of luck and the bounce of the ball to get past veteran full back Graham Alexander but having done that and reached the corner of the penalty area he fed a great ball inside to Blackstock who took the shot on early, through the legs of Michael Duff and into the bottom corner of Brian Jensen’s net.
Dexter Blackstock v Charlton (1st) - Damiano Tommasi looked to have run the ball out of play on the Ellerslie Road side of the pitch and the visiting players seemed to stop expecting a flag but when the linesman signalled play on Tommasi beat Cranie for pace, no I’m not kidding, and sent in a dangerous low cross that was swept home by a totally unmarked Dexter Blackstock from twelve yards out. Dexter Blackstock v Charlton(2nd) - Hogan Ephraim delivered an absolutely magnificent right footed cross from wide on the right flank and Dexter Blackstock angled his body perfectly to generate the power and angle for a header over Nicky Weaver and into the corner of the net. This was a goal of the absolute highest quality – the cross from Ephraim was a beauty and the way Blackstock was able to even get the ball on target never mind find enough purchase and accuracy to score was amazing.
