Mark Haywood will make the relatively short trip across the M62 from Wakefield to take charge of Dale’s Boxing Day home game against Mansfield.

This is the second time we have seen Mr Haywood this season as he was in the middle four our 1-0 home defeat of Torquay in September.

He was also at Spotland in March for the 1-1 draw with champions-elect Gillingham.

Boxing Day will be Mark’s 13th Dale game at league level, while he has also refereed us twice in pre-season friendlies.

So far this season, Mr Haywood has refereed 17 games, showing 40 yellow cards and four red.

His most recent appointment was Middlesbrough v Brighton in the Championship on 14th December.
