Time wasting 08:38 - Mar 9 with 1732 viewsrichpr

Time wasting has reached new low levels. Absolutely spoiling football for me. Goalkeeper needing new studs on his boot - really!!!! He then takes 5 minutes putting his new boot on, tying his laces like a 4 year old and then trying to put his gloves on. Surprised his mum didn’t come out to do it for him. He was later booked for time wasting taking a free kick only to take just as long after he was booked. Ref was a soft touch.

Can't understand why the refs / law-makers are so weak about it. They have all the power. The governing association is a complete monopoly. They only have themselves to blame for this brand of cheating, which is what it is.

I think a lot of refs appreciate the chance to rest.

A number of us in the away end knew after 5 minutes what sort of afternoon it would be and what sort of weak ref he was. Three soft fouls given for WBA but similar fouls not given for us.

It was clear from very early on that they were targeting Saito, particularly Furlong who seemed to be trying to get inside his kit every time they came together. Even if he hadn't elbowed him I'd have sent him off for repetitive fouling. Once Furlong had gone then Holgate and Bartley took over.

Their time wasting started in the first half and by my reckoning they've taken top place in the sh1t teams from Preston.

Maybe promotion is the only answer to their financial problems and they'll be gone if they don't go up. Hope so.

The day was topped off with the staff at the station closing the door on our fans because "the platform was full" while letting all the WBA fans in the other door. May they rot in hell.

I thought the same about the ref in those first few minutes. Surprised he actually issued the red card although wonder if he got an assistance from the 4th official who probably had a good view.

What is needed is a ref strong enough to yellow card someone around 60-65 minutes when the p1ss taking starts. AND, if it carries on, give the player a 2nd yellow.

The ref could card in the first minute for time wasting and it’s completely irrelevant as no ref is ever going to be brave enough to send a keeper off for persistent time wasting.

We know it, they know it, the players know it. It’s most more offensive that the refs insult our intelligence by bothering with a token booking rather than just stop bothering and publicly accept what we all know by now.

They normally spread the time wasting duties around though to lessen the zero chance of a 2nd yellow.

Wildsmith finally got booked after 92 minutes, about 30 minutes too late, IMHO.
Sure, they'll find other ways of slowing the clock but, generally, the keeper is the biggest culprit and should get the appropriate sanction.

Mind, a ref showing 2 yellow for time wasting would find his next appointment on Wormwood Scrubs, reffing 2 pub teams.
